The Lyrics

The last four leaders of the Democratic Party in the House of Representatives have been Tip O'Neill (Massachusetts, 1977 - 87), Jim Wright (Texas, 87 - 89), Tom Foley (Washington, 89 - 94), and Dick Gephardt (Missouri, 94 - 2002). The first three were Speakers of the House, but a Democrat has not held that position since the 1994 election, when Republicans became the majority party; however, Democrats have high expectations for Nancy Pelosi (California), the current House Minority leader.
The East coast gave us Tip O'Neill, who had the whitest hair,
Then the Southern charm didn't help Jim Wright when scandals knocked him out of there.
The Midwest lawyer Gephardt made the voters feel uptight,
And the Northern wit, which is hit-and-miss, helped put Tom Foley out of sight.

I wish they all had been California,
(wish they all had been California)
I wish they all had been California girls!

The West coast is so lib'ral and the girls win every race,
I dig Nancy Pelosi up on Capitol Hill because she really knows her place.
Male members of the Congress are well known for their excesses,
Yeah, and I can't wait to see a woman take her place and quickly clean up their messes!

Our nation sure could use a House cleaning,
(nation sure could use a House cleaning)
Our nation sure could use a House cleaning girl!

I liked it, not hilarious or anything, so I gave that a 4, but the pacing was perfect, good job

Taking politics out of it, great job, especially since you went after Tip's hair, and not his nose or his gut. Good job rhyming "messes" with "excesses." Not that Dennis Hastert has been able to do it for his side. Putting politics back into it, yeah, Gephardt always has made me feel uneasy, but "scandal"? Newt Gingrich pushed Jim Wright out for doing a fraction of what he'd later to himself, book deal and all. Did Newt apologize for his hypocrisy in regard to Wright? As James Carville taught us, "The revolution does not stop for apologies."
