"Super K"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

This is a song about lost love. She was with me for 20 years, 24/7, every holiday, every birthday, in sickness and in health; she was my sanctuary. Then, without warning, they closed the Super Kmart.
Super K, all my shopping needs were child's play
Now I've got no place to layaway
Oh, I still grieve for Super K.

Suddenly, piles of rubble where you used to be,
No more "Blue light special, aisle 3".
Oh, Super K left suddenly.

Why it had to close I don't know they wouldn't say.
Think their lease was wrong, now I long for Super K-a-a-a-a-a-a-y.

Super K, no more convenient shopping night and day.
"Attention Kmart shoppers" now passe'.
Oh, I still grieve for Super K.

Mm mm mm mm mm - Super K.

Kmart started out as Kresge, I believe in Philadelphia. "Five and Tens" (as they came to be called) are a dying breed along the Route 66 of life. Woolworth's was my favorite. No matter where you were in America, you opened the front door, and were greeted by a unique aroma which can best be described as a combination of hot roasted peanuts, brewing coffee, and woolen sweatsocks. * Sigh *

Great parody on a dying American icon. K Mart started out as the SS Kresge five and dime in Detroit. When I was younger, K Mart and the blue light special was the Wal-Mart smiley face of its day! I miss the sub sandwiches, popcorn, and all of the hicks running to the blue light.
