Song Parodies -> "Tempature"

Original Song Title:

"Yesterday"

Original Performer:

Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"Tempature"

Parody Written by:

Rick Duncan

The Lyrics

This being my 400th parody, I'm going to break one of my own rules. I said I'd never do the same song twice, but 3 other people did "Scrambled Eggs" to this song, and I had a better idea. Besides, after 400, you start to make new rules.
Tempature
When I hear that word I just say "Grr!"
News and weathermen all seem so sure
That it's pronounced
Like "Tempature"

Temperate
It's the root word when we talk climate
Has three syllables but we forget
When adding "ture"
To temperate

Oh I'd like to know who was first to say it wrong
For it seem to me like the world
Just went alo-o-o-ong

Tempature
Add it to the list with "New-cul-er"
If it's tough to say then we'll just slur
And coin more words
Like "Tempature"

M-m-m-m-m (continue stuffing marbles in mouth)
Home computer still down, am borrowing.

Congratulations, Highlander, on your 400th. There is no shame in parodying the same song more than once...who's to say whether one of your parodies of a song is "better" than another one of your parodies of the same song? And more to the point...if you have what YOU personally feel are multiple good parody ideas for the same song...why limit your own creative expression? So what if you compete against yourself...at least you know you have the worthiest of opponents! ;-)

Rick D - Nice job! When I started posting here I wasn't going to use the same original multiple times, but then I noticed that sometimes I had used a song for a certain parody that was alright, but later on I had a FABULOUS (or, well, at least a little better) idea using the same original song...so there went that personal guideline. I guess I would say I now try to only do it when I can produce what I perceive as a palpably better parody out of it.

Lid-each-chur.
I so love this song you did for sure,
Keep on writin', hope you will endure,
Four-hundredth song is tempature.

Congrats on number 400 and how fitting to choose a Beatles song to do it, Rick.

I think we can live with your new rules. No harm in doing it twice, especially after 400! Great Job!

Funny, you don't LOOK 400!

Hey Rick - when you reach 451, it'd be great if you did something with a "Fahrenheit 451" motif !
Guy - March 16, 2004 - Report this comment
OK, JD what happens at 451 degrees, besides third degree burns? Too late for me, I already passed that point.
Mari D - March 16, 2004 - Report this comment
What happens? Read the book! It got sumthin to doo wid tempachur and litterchur.
Johnny D - March 16, 2004 - Report this comment
It's the temapchur at which litterchur printed on papur burns.....i.e. the igg-nishun tempachur of papur. In "Fahrenheit 451", the job of The Firemen is to respond promptly, start the fire immediately, and make sure every book burns completely. A cool part of the story is that there is an underground of people who commit classic books to memory - each person in this underground "is a book". There are people who memorize works of Shakespeare, people who memorize books of the Bible, etc etc etc, to protect them from The Firemen.

Excellent parody, Rick. Why do people subtract a syllable from temperature and add one to realtor?
Jack Wilson - March 16, 2004 - Report this comment
Great job! Congrats on your 400th!!!!

I don't know, John Jenkins, but down-east heah in Maine we like our steamed clams and boiled lobbisstah.

DISCLAIMER: Steven King doesn't REALLY talk that way.

Oh yeah JD, I remember that movie from somewhere or somewhen. Interesting concept for a parody.

Johnny, "Temperature" looks interesting.

I'd hate to be the guy that had to memorize "Lord of the Rings"
Mari D - March 16, 2004 - Report this comment
I cringe every time that I hear "Feb-u-ary" or "new-cul-er" (especially when Dubya says it). Regarding 451... The big litterchur thing when I was a teenager was what we called The Trilogy: "Fahrenheit 451," "Brave New World," and "1984." Everyone "had" to read them. "1984" always pissed me off.

Wow - 400 parodies by March 16 is very impressive - they could fill a LIBARY. Only you know and I know that you were hoping to reach this mark by FEBUARY.

Congrats, Rick, and good job, funny, and apt! Funny thing was when I saw it in the list I thought "He spelled it incorrectly" ! Ha !

Nice one, Rick, and congrats on the 400 - I'm nearly at the 300 mark, and have already written my "300th" parody... For the first couple of hundred I pretty much stuck to not doing the same song twice, but I do bend that rule now, providing the parodies are completely different (like the Element the Eighth/Enema of Fate/Over the Eight as alternative takes on the only song I've done three times)

Pippin - so did I, then added the thought "Well, it scans better like that I guess"
Agrimorfee - March 17, 2004 - Report this comment
Funny stuff Rick. I saw the heading, and I thought "Oh great, just what we need, ANOTHER 'Yesterday' parody". ;0 But you did something on a sophisticated Allan Sherman level here. Good job, all 5s.
