The Lyrics

The full video is coming (hopefully) to YouTube this week. And I hope you have already enjoyed (endured?) my original recording that's been posted for a few weeks. I did take liberties with pacing, but you can hear how I incorporated it into the recording.
Jon and Kate have eight little children
And a show that runs on cable TV
While she stays at home
No, she’s never alone,
And Jon has a job that you never see.

Yikes!
At first it was easy,
How charming they could both be
With eight lovely babies,
And entertaining to see.

Clearly they were showing some tension,
The focal point of kids had dissolved.
Then they both said
Let us go get rewed
But the cracks could never get quite resolved.

Yikes!
It can’t be that easy,
See how the public can be
We Americans are fickle
About what we see on TV

If you’re famous and your family is well known
And your reputation then takes a slide
The tabloids will sell
And they’ll make your life hell.
Buckle up, it’s gonna be a long ride.

Yikes!
It makes me feel queasy,
I know that you would agree.
Yes, we’re watching a train wreck
For all the planet to see.

Getting lots of money from TLC.
Selling your lives for popularity.
Last night my wife said,
“Poor kids, makes me sad.
Twenty years of therapy might make them whole."

You think?

They’re living different lives in the papers.
Showing off their different frailties.
Jon’s got a new squeeze
Kate has had surgery.
Is this the so-called reality?

Yikes!
You’d think this was cheesy.
Are you feeling ennui?
The way this is flowing,
It’s gonna overwhelm me.

Warhol got it right in a small way
For fifteen minutes, we’ll all find fame.
It’s a two sided blade
That always cuts it both ways
It’s a price we pay for having no shame.

Yikes!
Who said it was easy
Living your life on TV?
What’s the price you are paying?
A price that’s too high for me.

What’s the price you are paying?
A price that’s too high for me.

I don't watch much of Jon and Kate, but great job telling all about their crisis! They've been through enough, especially the children! I've always thought they would be one big happy family, but turns out it didn't work out between Jon and Kate!

Thanks, Christie. I'm a little torn about this song. It's obvious the couple has a lot of issues, and I'm not adding my voice to compound the issues. (Sound of someone on soapbox) But for goodness sake, did they ever think about the long term issues their kids may face? I guess my point is that fame has ramifications, and I'm not sure that every reality star wannabe looks beyond the initial high of fame even if their original motives are altruistic.(off soapbox)

John and Yoko and Jon and Kate barf me out.

DKTOS. Nevertheless, this was rather poignant. Nicely done!

About Jon & Kate, whoever they are, I know only what's to be gleaned from an occasional 2-minute scan of tabloid headlines while queued for a supermarket checkout, but I know a good song parody when I read one. Like here.
