Parody Song Title:
"Congress Folly Day"
The Lyrics
Twas the week before Christmas when all through the Capitol
The Senate was dealing with the House inhospitable.
The bills were full of earmarks for Minority Leader Mitch
Like oil pipelines and tax cuts for the rich.
(It was a Congress folly day)
But they were up to no good
(It was a Congress folly day)
Didn't act like good Senators should
(It was a Congress folly day)
They wrote themselves a new play...
(It was a Congress folly day)
They wanted to ruin Obama's day.
They were making a list and checking with the Kochs.
The Tea Party wanted to screw all the poor folks
A tax break for Exxon
A deal for Freddie Mac
Less regulation for Goldman....let's not forget Sach's
(It was a Congress folly day)
But they were up to no good
(It was a Congress folly day)
Didn't act like good Senators should
(It was a Congress folly day )
They wrote themselves a new play
(It was a Congress folly day)
They wanted to ruin Obama's day.
The Speaker was to signal for a Tea Party vote
At the very first hint of a compromise note
As Obama came down the Congressional hall
The GOP House would cut Unemployment for all
From inside the chamber there arose from the caucus
a protest from Cantor and a call to Max Baucus
Like a red-pen veto, it put them in shock
For now, in their midst, stood President Barack
He began to tell them he was deeply annoyed
And came up with a deal for the unemployed
Middle Class got saved
Cantor's Tea Party behaved
John Boehner was unhappy; he showed he can cave!!
(It was a Congress folly day)
But they were up to no good
(It was a Congress folly day)
Didn't act like good Senators should
(It was a Congress folly day)
They wrote themselves a new play
(It was a Congress folly day)
They tried to ruin Obama's day.
So the middle class everywhere were spared the grieve
Of losing their tax cut to a Congress of thieves.
They still don't like Obama, but say they'll be sure
to not screw the unemployed or the poor. (yeah, right....)
(It was a Congress folly day)
But they were up to no good
(It was a Congress folly day)
Didn't act like good Senators should
(It was a Congress folly day)
They found out, try as they may
(It was a Congress folly day)
They couldn't ruin Obama's day.
Well, Boehner, what do you think of Obama now?
"Arrrrrr...Obama still no good!"
And Obama said to them, as he strolled out the door
"Ho-ho-ho-ho-ho
Unemployment for the needy.....
And lower taxes for the poor!"
