Having missed Monday's breaking news about the Papal resignation and the wave of Tuesday's parodies, I vowed to write the first parody about President Obama's State of the Union address. I selected a really swinging tune...a duet by Bobby Darin and lyricist/vocalist Johnny Mercer. Please check out the original on Youtube. I've given both duets parts to President Obama, who prefers to govern without any input from the legislative and judicial branches. As for the speech itself, it was indeed "More Of The Same". ;D

Like jackasses braying. They're mine but it's lame.
I'm King of the Realm. I won my election
So my new direction's not tame.
But I'll still kick it up, stick it up, trick it up.

(1) - Alicia Keys, whose interminable over-the-top rendition of "Obama's On Fire" at the Inaugaral Gala was actually redeemed by her record-setting lengthy version of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. (2) - Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her fist-pounding response to a question about the Benghazi killings. (3) - In this line and from there on out, we have the vocalists taking liberties and putting too many words in the meter. I therefore followed the exact flow of their meter busting.(4) - Vice-President Joe Biden...enough said. (5) Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner, Obama's favorite straw/boogie man. (6) - There isn't a (6)! I just wanted to see if you were paying attention. ;D
