Not many of you know it, but Wisconsin Dells has a real surf rat,
His name is Slick Gator, and he came up via Florida way,
With stops in Motherbu, and Huntington, La Jolla and the Pipeline, too;
But how he wound up in Wisconsin Dells is something of a mystery,
And yet again, the Dells all love him, this Slick Gator dude,
A real irresistably gnarly, "water animal" dude....

Rumour hath it that he came up from an alligator farm
Of rather low repute, simply for the tourist trade
Back before Disney World and the theme parks down Orlando way,
Back when Florida meant Weeki Wachee and not much else;
Suffice it to say that's whence came this Slick Gator dude,
That real irresistably gnarly "water animal" dude....

Seems the gator farm got shut down one day without warning,
And somehow, Slick had to fend for his own, one way or another;
Somehow, he came upon a thrown-out, weedy surfboard and began
Picking up some pointers on the fly, and thus began
The irresistably secretive legend of Slick Gator, who's
One real irresistably gnarly "water animal" dude....

Before too long, Slickster had to make his way
Criss-crossing the surfing circuit, and weren't they all surprised
To find an alligator pulling off moves that would surprise
All your average Murphy and Kookmeyer wannabes--
And yet again, they all started wondering 'bout this Slick Gator dude,
That real irresistably gmarly "water animal" dude....

And you hear lots of stories on the surfer's wireless going round
About how this Slick Gator found himself stuck up Wisconsin way;
In any case, they found him up there in Wisconsin Dells
And, out of pity, found refuge for him out @ Noah's Ark,
To this day, the summer quarters of this Slick Gator dude,
One real irresistably gnarly "water animal" dude....

Come the off-season, then, we wonder where Slick's heading for
On his annual Winter Surfari, in a rat-trap van
Which doubles as his quarters when he's out scouting 'round
For another of those surf spots obscure as keep him in that form
That's made quite a legend of this Slick Gator dude,
That real irresistably gnarly "water animal" dude....
