The Lyrics

This is for all those financial "experts" who say that the recession will end if we all just go buy stuff.
How many jobs did the people lose
Before the panic began?
Yes, 'n' how many billions did scammers take
Before we knew we were scammed?
Yes 'n' what is the plan that the government has
Besides giving everyone Spam?
The answer, they say, is "everybody spend"
The answer is "everybody spend"

Why should us folks spend what we haven't got
Since CEO's took the cash?
Yes 'n' how will we face our later years
Now that our 401k's have crashed?
Yes 'n' where do they think we can find extra cash
We're already eating our trash
The answer, they say, is "everybody spend"
The answer is "everybody spend"

Use MasterCard if you don't have the cash
Don't let free enterprise tank
Yes 'n' it could be years 'til we get out of this
You better not count on your bank
Yes 'n' go have some kids to inherit your debt
And tell them it's all just a prank
The future, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
Our future is blowin' in the wind

As Bob Dylan also said, "The times they are a-changing"

I echo Matthias' comment above. I've been spending and spending a lot lately and I ought to knock it off. I hope that when people read your song, they would get the message! Our family is always trying to convince us to save our money and pray to God. Anyways, here's $555 to spend.

Spend what?! Nice job.

(Artistry) Not a laughgetter, but well done. Like how you brought back the original title as a punchline.

(Artistry) Given that I know very little about the GFC (Global Financial Crisis, as my dad puts it - or Global Financial Cock-Up in my words), I couldn't get into this parody as much as I'd like to. Still, the pacing was tight as hell. Good jorb.

So true. The economy is so bad right now I've had to resort to the barter system to get some of the people that owe me money to pay up. Great parody here, Rex.

(Artistry) Very rateable, It wasn't terribly funny, but it has much more meaning than TOS
