The Lyrics

https://youtu.be/OeP4FFr88SQ?t=73 . . . . I don't really begrudge Dylan monetizing his musical gifts but the incongruity of the sale to Universal with the persona of his early career is hard to leave unremarked. . . .
Hey Mister Get-The-Green Man, sell a song to me
It’s not greedy when you’re in need of a buck or two
Hey Mister Get-The-Green Man, sell a song to me
That jingle buys the bling you’ll want to wallow in too.
The Dylan of my youth would have told them to pound sand
That you can’t just buy a man
But I guess you’ve changed the plan ‘n new plans changed the man
The avarice amazes me, I’m stunned beyond belief
Ain’t like you’re on relief
I’m left considering my grief that now you’re just a brand.

Hey Mister Get-The-Green Man, sell a song to me
It’s not greedy when you’re in need of a buck or two
Hey Mister Get-The-Green Man, sell a song to me
That jingle buys the bling you’ll want to wallow in too.
We’re looking forward to the songs that tell us what to buy:
Face creams to beautify
Fish strips ready to fry
A pill to slim my thigh
A new iphone to ease online ordering
I’m ready to buy anything, whatever your songs say
I’m here with ApplePay™
Cast your music’s spell my way, I promise that I’ll fall for it.

Hey Mister Get-The-Green Man, sell a song to me
It’s not greedy when you’re in need of a buck or two
Hey Mister Get-The-Green Man, sell a song to me
That jingle buys the bling you’ll want to wallow in too.

Interesting commentary about why musicians have to sell their songs nowadays because there are no concerts right now!

Some nice rhymes here. A lot of songs that would have been forgotten find new life as commercial jingles. I can't count the number of times I've come to a good song through a parody or a TV ad. I wonder what I could sell my AIR parodies for. 30 cents would buy half a candy bar. A small candy bar, like one Hershey kiss. But that's all the chocolate I should be eating, anyway. Best parody of the day.

Now he's tangled up in green. (Anybody want to use that for a title, go ahead.)

Sincere thanks to all who've stopped to vote or comment. May all your songs about the evils of crass consumerism bring you untold riches. It may be that it's a hard rain that's gonna fall, but he certainly is makin' it rain.
