The Lyrics

This organization puts the fun back in funeral. Sombody is inspiring me to mock CSN. (You know who you are)
We'll make a pyre
With all sorts of flowers
For the loved one you lost today
Put 'em in the fire
Or bury six feet under we've got plans
For ev'ry family member
To remember you
Service for you-oo-oo

Our hearse is a very, very, very fine hearse
With two stiffs in the back
All dressed in their best black
Our staff makes mourning easier
For you

Come to us now
You'll rest your head for the hereafter
Hear our sermonette
See our coffin room
The lids have all been laminated
Keeping freshness
Inside so the worms won't get to you
Nothing to chew-ew-ew

Our hearse is a very, very, very fine hearse
With two stiffs in the back
All dressed in their best black
Our staff makes mourning easier
For you

We'll start the fire
While you sell your house
So you can pay what this cost
Today-ay-ay-ay

As Digger O'Dell, the Friendly Undertaker on Life of Riley once said(half you punks don't know who I'm even referring to) : " I'm here to give you a lift, and I'll be the last to ley you down." It's no stiff , Rick. I give you THE FIVES! - Now I must be shoveling off . . .

You're making for some stiff competition with your well paced well thought out parodies. Nice work.

LOL! My father-in-law owns a funeral home. The problem with the mortuary industry is that you can't rely on repeat business. So, we're always trying to help him out with ideas for increasing business and we've suggested a lot of killer ad slogans. Oddly, he never uses any of them... go figure. Anyway, nicely done!

Funny words, but I don't know the song. Can you do a Talking Heads version? ;-)

Mehli--Show him my parody "Cremation". Maybe there's no repeat biz, but with more people on the planet every day, I can't imagine it tapering off. And Leah, it's a classic. Nash wrote it for Joni Mitchell when they lived in Laurel Canyon. She in turn wrote "Willie" for him.

You gotta go to your friends' funerals. If you don't, they won't go to yours.
