The Lyrics
Many African slaves and their descendants identified with ancient Israel and its history of captivity and liberation. Today's corruption and contempt in Washington D.C. call to mind another Biblical story. The original lyrics repeat after five verses, I decided to write new verses instead. On the orginal recording, Mr Dekker often throws in exclamations of "oh" or "Sir". Feel free to add as you wish. Note: I do not advocate the following course of events, only I say, the Lord's will be done.
