The Lyrics

In the UK, Manchester United are considered kings in the world of football, so when their greatest manager retired and David Moyes took over, things didn't exactly go right! He didn't last long. No doubt in the States there are teams that have had similar problems.
HANDLE ON THE TEAM

Goodbye David Moyes;
Though we never knew why you came.
You thought you had just what it takes
While others kept away.

They stayed out of the running,
While Sir Alex had this one dream;
He offered you a fortune,
And he made you change your team.

And it seems to all you never did
Get a handle on the team;
Never knowing who to play where,
You ran out of steam.

And we all thought you would have listened,
But you would have your way.
Your time is up and you must go;
There’s nothing else to say.

Management is tough.
You took it on but I’m afraid
The job was quite simply too big for you;
The sack is the price you paid.

Even when you won,
How the press still hounded you
And the papers always said
That your days in charge of the team were through.

And it seems to all you never did
Get a handle on the team
Never knowing who to play where,
You ran out of steam.

And we all thought you would have listened,
But you would have your way.
Your time is up and you must go;
There’s nothing else to say

Goodbye David Moyes
Though we never knew why you came.
You thought you had just what it takes
While others kept away.

Goodbye David Moyes
Did you think that you could succeed
With changing line-ups every game?
I think that’s quite naïve.

And it seems to all you never did
Get a handle on the team
Never knowing who to play where,
You ran out of steam.

And we all thought you would have listened
But you would have your way.
Your time is up and you must go,
There’s nothing else to say.

Your time is up and you must go,
There’s nothing else to say.

I'm a Spurs fan!

Well, Glynne, at least now I know where you're from

A Spurs fan. Mocking another team's managerial choice. O... kay. Meanwhile, back with the only big club in North London, there's only one Arsene Wenger.

Good stuff, Glynne (from one Spurs fan to another). I don't know much about soccer, but I do know golf. And I know that Sir Alex Ferguson was asked to give motivational talks to the European Ryder Cup team that kicked Americans' butts last September in Scotland.
