The Lyrics

This doesn't start the way you think it does, but it just might end that way.
Uh-huh-huh.
(Uh-huh-huh.)
Uh-huh-huh.
(Uh-huh-huh.)
Uh-huh-huh.
(Uh-huh-huh.)
Whoa, yeah.

Don't want a city slicker.
Not like Carrie Bradshaw.
I want a girl from the rural world.
Just like back on "Hee Haw."

Come on and
drive to ye ol' Good Luck Farm.
Uh-huh-huh, its sweet delight.
Goin' to Good Luck Farm
and there won't be no harm
uh-huh-huh
(uh-huh-huh)
uh-huh-huh
(uh-huh-huh)
tonight!

Go bet your bottom dollar
that charms that gal can bring.
The happiness in her warm caress
from fall-into-hay fling!

Come on and
drive to ye ol' Good Luck Farm.
Uh-huh-huh, its sweet delight.
Goin' to Good Luck Farm
and there won't be no harm
uh-huh-huh
(uh-huh-huh)
uh-huh-huh
(uh-huh-huh)
tonight!

Uh-huh-huh.
(Uh-huh-huh.)
Uh-huh-huh.
(Uh-huh-huh.)
Uh-huh-huh.
(Uh-huh-huh.)
Whoa, yeah.

Uh-huh-huh.
(Uh-huh-huh.)
Uh-huh-huh.
(Uh-huh-huh.)
Tonight!

If I don't get love from that girl
well then, what can I say?
I'll fall asleep by a-counting sheep.
I wonder, would they bray?

Come on and
drive to ye ol' Good Luck Farm.
Uh-huh-huh, its sweet delight.
Goin' to Good Luck Farm
and there won't be no harm
uh-huh-huh
(uh-huh-huh)
uh-huh-huh
(uh-huh-huh)
tonight!

Uh-huh-huh.
(Uh-huh-huh.)
Uh-huh-huh.
(Uh-huh-huh.)
Uh-huh-huh.
(Uh-huh-huh.)
Whoa, yeah.
The preceding was meant as humor, and does not reflect any actual event in my life. I was a lousy traveling salesman.

Traveling salesman's car breaks down late at night, knocks at farmhouse, farmer says, "Ya kin stay, but there ain't no spare rooms. Ya'll have ta spend the night with my beautiful son." TS says, "Oh s**t -- I'm in the wrong joke!!!" .... Your parody was much more clever than that (ancient) joke. Five nights with Inger Stevens.

Embarrassed at never having heard of her, I had to look up Inger Stevens, who starred in a film called "The Farmer's Daughter." I once saw "Petticoat Junction"'s Meredith MacRae as a panelist on "What's My Line?" on Game Show Network. She had on this lime-green dress that came down, as the Pussycat Dolls would say, to just under her (beep) and she was luscious. Unfortunately, I'd never seen PJ, and by the time I saw that GSN WML, she was already dead. As was Stevens. And today, I saw a picture in the NY Daily News of the wife of that NYC cop convicted of being mobbed-up. She looked just like Catherine Zeta-Jones! Oy, JFK was right: Life isn't fair.

I'm not quite that old :) Inger was the title role, not in the 1947 movie, but in the "FD" TV series, 1963. She OD'd on pills shortly after starting to date Burt Reynolds -- wouldn't you??? ht**tp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Farmer%27s_Daughter

Does money grow on trees at the Good Luck Farm? Rural World - that sounds like it would be a good MTV show, except that MTV sucks. No luck in getting full marks here,

Now I've seen you parody three of my four favourite Elvis songs, Michael (the other two are "Stuck On You" and "All Shook Up") which only leaves "I Got Stung." Fall-into-hay fling? Don't forget to wash behind the ears. And don't forget to wash the sheep, either.

Red Ant, your comment seems to be broken off, what with the comma and everything.
Red Ant - April 22, 2006 - Report this comment
It wasn't, that comma was a typo - it should have been a period. My last sentence was ambigous too - it should have read "No luck was involved in getting full marks here" - in other words, I voted 5s.

Good.

The irony is, I'm allergic to hay. Really, my eyes swell up like I've gone 12 rounds with Lennox Lewis. YAD: "I Got Stung"? I've heard it, but not often, so it's not ingrained into my memory like about 50 other Elvis songs. Writing a parody of that one might take some thinking. Contrary to popular belief (of Lurker, Linda and their sarcastic, paranoid ilk), I have been known to do that.
