The Lyrics

Despite what Mac Davis, through Elvis, said in the original song, Chicago isn't all ghetto. And the city's had white guys with guns, too. And billy clubs. And billy goats. And bad hands. But it's still one of America's greatest cities, and any problems it has, the others have, too. Note that the current Mayor, Richard M. Daley (served since 1991), is the son of Mayor Richard J. Daley (1955-1976), and the son is a little more sensitive to cops going overboard.
As the snow flies
on a cold, gray February morn
a gang unloads Valentine's Day scorn
in Chicago.
(In Chicago.)

And the mobsters cry.
'Cause if there's one thing that they don't need
it's a hail of bullets to make them bleed
in Chicago.
(In Chicago.)

Now, people, don't you understand?
There's more than crime to this land.
There's food, politics and sports here at our Midway.
It's not easy to survive.
Rich folks on Lake Shore Drive.
But there's so many more who live
in much the poorer way.

Well, the world turns.
And the angry young men at the Grant Park shell
face Daley's cops who will give them hell
in Chicago.
(In Chicago!)
The Convention burns.
And the Cubs won't play no games at night.
Eventually they'll see the light
in Chicago.
(In Chicago!)

Then one day in celebration
the Patriots blown away.
And Ditka's boys
lots of stars
The Bears' big run
it went real far.

And Michael Jordan flies.
But the crowd in Wrigley hates the man
who messed up the Cubs with his nosy hands
in Chicago.
(In Chicago!)

And he can't go outside.
(In Chicago!)

But the White Sox play across the town
they won despite that Guillen clown...

In Chicago!
(In Chicago!)

And the Cub fans cry.
(In Chicago!)

(In Chicago!)

(Oh, whoa!)

Great job highlighting my former hometown in a more positive light.

Just noticed that the name "Capone" = "cap one".... "Come and show me another parodist with lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning". 555

Nice song, but even that won't keep to Bears from suffering an inglorious defeat tomorrow. But good luck, anyway. GO COLTS! BEAT DA BEARS!
