The Lyrics

In the days before the Garden Gnome, a lot of American lawns were decorated with the figure of a young man holding a ring in his hand. One story give his name as Jocko and tells of his faithful service to George Washington, holding his horse while Washington crossed the Delaware. Another legend says that the figure once held a green ribbon, marking a home where escaping slaves could find refuge. No evidence exists for either account, but they are good stories nonetheless. The lawn jockey is quite harmless, traditional, and American. Of course that drives certain elements in our society to fits of Vandalistic rage. Some manufacturers attempt to avoid charges of "racism" by giving Jocko a white or Caucasian face. Weird. But I don't pretend to know or want to know how those people think.
He greets every guest as they pull inĀ  the drive
A smile on his face as if he were alive
He's been a fixture for many a year
Now the snowflakes are screaming that he shouldn't be here

Lawn Jockey! Lawn Jockey!
Their minds must have snapped
You're headed, headed, headed for the scrap

He's the only one left on this block full of homes
The rest were displaced by those immigrant gnomes
Heat of summer, winter snows fall
True to his duty though just two feet tall

Lawn Jockey! Lawn Jockey!
Just doing your job
A target, target, target of the mob

Some say that he once held George Washington's horse
But that's nothing more than a legend, of course
He's the unwitting cause of racial discord
To dismiss this as nonsense you just cannot afford

Tonight the Antifa crowd prepares to attack
There are fires to set and windows to crack
Crowbars and chains we're starting to see
Soon he'll be toppled just like Robert E Lee

Lawn Jockey! Lawn Jockey!
The vandals surround
They'll pull you, pull you, pull you to the ground

(Cacophony of police sirens, tear gas and flash bang grenades, protestors breaking windows and chanting "I can't breathe" and, of course, a bagpipe band playing "Garryowen". I really like bagpipes and "Garryowen")

Sensible people cannot understand
The signs of our history are mindlessly banned
Ben and Jemima, the LandĀ  O' Lakes girl
Thanks to the Marxists are not long for this world

Jocko awaits and the prospects are grim
Gnomes will be stomped when thugs come for him
He'll be carted away in the dark of the night
Could have stayed had he been painted white

I'm Jocko! I'm Jocko!
Yard ornament fine
If Black lives matter, matter, matter, why not mine?

Lawn Jockey! Lawn Jockey!
An innocent pawn
The leftists', leftists', leftists' minds are gone
The leftists', leftists', leftists' minds are gone
The leftists', leftists', leftists' minds are gone....

For those Amirighters still young enough to bear or sire offspring, thats a joke between two doddering old boomers. Sky Pilot just might be the most embarassing example of hippie dipsh*t rock to ever escape a recording studio. It just proves the wisdom of the old rock saying, "One hit wonders should stop after their one hit."

Good job!!! I parodied this song a few years ago about airline pilots flying drunk! It's on this site under my name.

I used this tune for a parody about cloning many years ago. As I recall, you made the same disparaging remarks concerning the original song back then. In a world of formulaic love songs, "Sky Pilot", with its stirring lyrics, aircraft noises, battle sound effects accompanied by bagpipes was certainly an attention-getter. With a 7-1/2 minute run time, requiring that the song be divided onto both sides of the MGM 45 rpm, it was like few other releases, just in terms of format. And, I really liked the flutes during the final choruses. I would be sort of reminded of "Sky Pilot" when Fun released "Some Nights", a song that was "different" to say the least. The video consisted of scenes from a Civil War reenactment. I parodied that one, too. I've started to notice that most of us old timers (Alz heimers) are vanishing from AIR, to be replaced by newcomers who parody songs I've never heard. I used to get all sorts of rants and death threats for stuff I wrote. Now, no one bothers to comment at all. It's most discouraging. I saw my first Halloween costume shop opening today. That's been one of my favorite subjects for a couple of years. I even have a "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" tribute in the works, don't know if I should bother finishing it. Michael Pacholek must be in the path of the hurricane that the newscasters can't pronounce correctly. (It's "ee-sigh-ahss", the Spanish form of the Prophet Isaiah). I hope he's OK. Glad to see someone read this effort. Randy, I'll have to look for your version, too. The other day I saw someone post a comment on a parody 16 years after it was posted. So, there's still hope for me.

Turned back the clock to 2004 and found this classic that was a one-hit wonder for two different groups: http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/coventheoriginalcaste0.shtml
