Song Parodies -> "Your Farewell"

Original Song Title:

"Let's Hang On!"

Original Performer:

Four Seasons

Parody Song Title:

"Your Farewell"

Parody Written by:

Ashley

The Lyrics

Expresses the worries of highschool and the difficulty of saying good bye.
Though I tried hard, to earn your liking
The prize won, was really something
Still I'm sulking

Chorus
Your farewell, final good bye
For the future, Oh I will try
You'll be in my thoughts this summer
Nowhere, despair, take care
And keep it up! ( doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo )

I'm off to high school and I'll be busy
Just burdened with books, plus the geometry
( Challenging ) Electives and new people
( Studying ) Subjects, and a full schedule
A large campus with a public school
Is a worry, but I'll, try to keep my cool
( Hopefully ) My mark will surely stand out
( Anxiously ) But what if I'm a drop out?
Problems ( quite a few ) Help me ( I need you )
Right now ( just come running and stay )

Chorus
Your farewell, final good bye
For the future, Oh I will try
You'll be in my thoughts this summer
Nowhere, despair, take care
And keep it up! ( doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo )

There isn't anything I wouldn't do
I'd pay any price, to catch a glimpse of you
( Still searching ) You'll show up at a small shop
( In my dreams ) I'll meet you on the roof top
I'm on the lookout, for your walk of grace
Hidden in the crowd, your familiar face
( Open up ) Your voice I need to hear
( Open up ) Your heart, your footsteps near
Problems ( quite a few ) Help me ( I need you )
Right now ( just come running and stay )

Chorus
Your farewell, final good bye
For the future, Oh I will try
You'll be in my thoughts this summer
Nowhere, despair, take care
And keep it up! ( doo-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo )

I'm a huge fan of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, and this Fall 1965 opus is my favorite "oldie" of all time. (The original has the best guitar work of any "doo-wop" song, the bass playing is awesome, the horns are great, and Buddy Saltzman does his usual mimic of God-as-drummer.) You did a great job with it. As they say in the North Ward of Newark, where my parents and Frankie all came from, "Five-cheese ravioli!" (Now that it's an all-Caribbean-Hispanic neighborhood, it would be "Five chalupas.")
