Original Song Title:

"Sherry"

Parody Song Title:

"Kerry"

Parody Written by:

The Comedian

The Lyrics

I'm not saying I'll vote for either Kerry or Bush or Nader or Lyndon LaRouche ... it's just that politicians are always fair game on Amiright....heh heh heh.....
Kerry,
Kerry maybe!
Kerry,
Kerry maybe!

Ker-r-r-ry may-ay-be
(Kerry maybe)
Ker-r-ry
Can you win o'er the right?
(Win, win, win o'er the right)

Ker-r-r-ry may-ay-be
(Kerry maybe)
Ker-r-ry
Can you win o'er the right?

(Why don't you smile more?)

For your dissed party

(Smile more!)

Like Teresa Heinz

(Smile more!)

And dance the night away

You've gotta fake-it so fi-i-iine!

Ker-r-r-ry may-ay-be
(Kerry maybe)
Ker-r-ry
Can you win o'er the right?
(Win, win, win o'er the right)

You-u-u
Better ask Beth Ca-hill
(Kerry maybe)
Ask her
If your ass is uptight

(Why such a long face?)

Like a basset hound

(Long face!)

Mmmm, you look so sad

(Long face!)

Smile more nice and sleazy

See? Now you don't look so bad!

Ker-r-r-ry may-ay-be
(Kerry maybe)
Ker-r-ry
Can you win o'er the right?

(Win, win, win o'er the right)
Win, win, win o'er the right
(Win, win, win o'er the right)
Win, win, win o'er the right
Kerry (Win, win, win o'er the right)
Kerry maybe
Kerry (Win, win, win o'er the right)
Kerry maybe

(repeat until Election Day)

Can Kerry win o'er the right? No.

Is this a clever parody? Definitely. I was going to write that humor in parodies is more cutting if parodies take a stand one way or the other, but the whole point of "Kerry maybe" is not to take a stand.

What is the Beth Cahill connection?
Johnny D - April 02, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks Royce and JJ.

Mary Beth Cahill is Kerry's Presidential campaign manager.

Thanks, Ellipsis ... I'm confident America will manage to survive no matter which of these guys wins ... our nation is so much more than just the Presidency.

God forbid Kerry wins. Vote Nader ;-)

Hehehe...I'm sure you must be proud he comes from your state, Johnny...he flipflops more than a pancake at the IHOP.

Thanks, Alvin.

Thanks Rice Cube. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I once met John Kerry in-person during one of his Senate campaigns as he and his entourage were strolling along the sidewalk in the Boston neighborhood of Brighton - he and I shook hands and exchanged brief pleasantries.

Shaking John Kerry's hand was kind of like shaking hands with Herman Munster - the Frankenstein's-monster-like funeral parlor custodian from the silly and creepy 1960's sitcom "The Munsters" (you Baby-Boomers will know of whom I speak) ...... and to prove Kerry's resemblance to Herman Munster, all I need to do is call upon a fact of Irish geography:

"Covering an area of 1,815 square miles, County Kerry has a population of over 125,000, most of whom live in or near the urban centres. The name Kerry (Ciarrai) stems from Ciar (son of Fergus, King of Ulster), whose descendants occupied this part of Munster."

That quote is from:

The Comments-editor put a hidden dash character in-between the "cha" and the "nge" of the word "change" in the URL http://www.realchange.org/kerry.jpg.

If that bogus dash character shows up when you cut-and-paste that URL into your browser's address line, just manually delete it and the link will then work OK.

"Can you win o'er the right?" Well, there's a straw-man question if I've ever heard one. Good job, Johnny Deet. I was thinking about doing this one - now I don't have to. Basset hound. Heh heh.
Johnny D - April 02, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks Jack!

Thank you, Mighty Spaff. I actually wrote this one weeks ago and set it aside.....then very recently I started to get the feeling that somebody else might beat me to it, so I went ahead and posted it .... heh heh heh.

Hilarious parody, Johnny, 5s here, and some outstanding comments, too, from you and your reviewers. What a great choice we have, two Skull & Bones boys, Darrell and his brother Darrell.
