The Lyrics

All of his accusations
Are just confessions
Their nothing but projections
But he has a need to try
And then comes the night:

In Grump’s midnight confessions
When he admits to himself he’s guilty
In Grump’s midnight confessions
When he tells all the squirrels he is silly
He’s silly

There's a gold hair piece he wears on his head
To make him look a bit better
He tries like a bitch to wine and dine
He’s wasting his time

Lying throughout the daytime
Falsehoods is where he shines
Truth is so far from him
Hey, but then comes the night
He sees a glimmer of light:

In Grump’s midnight confessions
When he admits to himself he’s scummy
In Grump’s midnight confessions
When he admits to girls he needs money
He needs money

There's orange makeup he wears on his face
To help him find his place
He’s overweight but still he tries
He’s wasting his time

In Grump’s midnight confessions
When he admits to himself he’s grifty
In Grump’s midnight confessions
How he hopes he was still fifty

What a blast from the past. I probably havent thought of them for fifty years. They were a three hit wonder, but one of them, "Lets Live For Today" was HUGE. It really resonated with kids of the time. This one was their second best .. Cant even think of the third one

their 3rd big hit was "I'd Wait A Million Years"

That was a hit, but not a BIG hit. Take my word for it, I was in my early teens when the Grassroots appeared.

if the criteria is chart position on the Billboard Hot 100, "Midnight Confessions" was a bigger hit than "Let's Live For Today" with the former reaching 5, the latter reaching 8. their 3rd biggest would be "Sooner Or Later" which reached 9.
