I am a HUGE fan of Gary Larson, and particularly his Far Side series of cartoons; without his influence I'm sure I'd never have written Howard Doesn't Count Me or Christmas Isn't Fair. So I've set myself a small project: to write some parodies based on some of his best Far Side cartoons. And here is the first...
This one is based on a cartoon that shows a bunch of cows watching one of their cow brethren eating a steak and proclaiming "I'd say we taste a bit like chicken." (I'd love to be able to link to the actual cartoon, but Gary Larson deeply hates his cartoons appearing on the internet, and most of his fans respect that so it's actually very difficult to find that many of them that way.) And the OS by Heinz Burt had just the right title for me to mangle appropriately. ;^)

So then I moved on to filet mignon
And yes it was hoof-lickin’

The others found out, and boy did they shout

Caused such dismay when they heard me say

C’mon everybody!
I said “Have a go, it’s no-one we know”
And soon all their forks were stickin’
They looked at me, and did agree

Well our next barbeque, we’ll try something new
Ignore all the hater’s “You’re sick!”-in’
Be fat and full, forget all the bull….

*There has apparently been scientific research that proves when people eat something for the first time that they're unsure about, or it just looks a bit weird, they compare it to chicken surprisingly often. Something to do with chicken being an innoffensive taste, and so if the person doesn't immediately hate it they just think of whatever other food tastes 'alright.'

LOL @ hoof-lickin' & have a go lines. Very familiar with the OS because Ritchie Blackmore was the session guitarist on it.
Heinz was one of those artists who really should have deserved far wider recognition than he did. I love the original song, and you made a fine spoof. Fives!
