-> "The Ballad(?) of Fairborne and Fairchild"
Original Song Title:
"Wives and Lovers"
Parody Song Title:
"The Ballad(?) of Fairborne and Fairchild"
The Lyrics
Their names are Fairchild and Fairborne,
They're gophers, and they're mascots
Of The Great Minnesota Get-Together, as in
The Minnesota State Fair;
Though they may look like identical twins,
The similarities stop right there,
Just so you know:
The older one, name of Fairchild,
Has been around for some 40 years,
And though his looks may have changed in the years since,
He's still the same gopher @ heart:
He may be quite silly, but I know for sure,
He loves those corn dogs like anyone else
Who loves the State Fair...
Now, Fairchild has a nephew, by name
Of Fairborne, and he gets to be
Just as much of a cut-up as Fairchild,
And maybe a bit weird on the side;
Both Fairchild and Fairchild will tell you with pride
That 4-H is their favourite part
Of that Minnesota State Fair....
You can tell those two gophers by their
Old-stylee showman's getup--
Starched vest, pipestem trousers, jaunty-looking straw boater
With tickets tucked in the hat brim;
And though they're quite silly, they serve quite the role
As State Fair ambassadors of good will--
They're quick with a laugh, and a joke, and some laughter
Sure to put you in the mood...
Sure to put you in the mood....
