Song Parodies -> "1,000,001 (Songs Posted By FG/TT)"

Original Song Title:

"A Million To One"

Original Performer:

Jimmy Charles

Parody Song Title:

"1,000,001 (Songs Posted By FG/TT)"

Parody Written by:

Fiddlegirl and Tommy Turtle

The Lyrics

This would be our 1,000,001th -- er, 1,000,001st -- uh, how *would* you say that? ... ANY-way, with this song, we've now posted 1,000,001 songs here. (And they said it wouldn't last...)

OS video here.
A million and one
That's what our posts hit; no drought of songs of ours
A million, we've done
A labor of love, we've made by nights' and days' hours

We've vetted everything
And we love those who "Five"
We're groping (scoping) for lines: our duet (lot of sweat): [1]
Reach others' lives

A million bad puns
You feel they're pooh dung; so low; demeaning our stuff
A million; some Ones
That we have gotten: the screams of those, reaming of

But we ignore them
And we just snub them
And it's all been lots of fun
We're just vaudevillians
A million songs, done

For votes you've given:
We're grateful of them
And we've only just begun
We'll start the next million
The first is ... this one

[1] As opposed to certain other groping best left unmentioned. ;)

It's true! Don't believe it? Check it out!

Now THAT'S a tribute. To all who contributed, feel proud of making something special(Like talking turtles...) just kidding, TT. And GREAT job by you and "The Fiddle"!!

I'm glad that you two had the honor of submitting the first of our second million efforts. Now to all of us...GET BACK TO WORK! lol ;D

Wow! I don't think I have that many even in binary! Way to go! ;D

Great job. I doubt I'll ever be at the top 10 or near, I'll probably retire from anything but sporadic submissions after 1,000 parodies or so, assuming I don't run out of ideas before that. 5s.
AFW - February 18, 2010 - Report this comment
I hadn't realized you guys had submitted that many...I'll have to go back in archives and read several hundred thousand I missed

Hmmm. Since this website has been around for 10 years (starting with Mr. G's 80s website) and assuming you haven't written parodies prior to 2000, the TT/FG output would be around 273.74787845606350944429236244183 parodies per day, an impressive output by any standard. This suggests one, possibly two scenarios:

1. Niether of you have lives outside of writing parodies or

2. You are both space aliens who crash landed on earth, assimilated our culture, and developed an unhealthy fascination with popular music and popular culture.

My money's on number 2, but I've been wrong before.

[in best Dr. Evil voice] "ONE MILL-YON parodies? That's might fine output from the Rhynamic Duo!"

PS: I suspect hidden hexadecimal puns that I'm just too dense to fathom!

A million times the greatest, guys! I'm never going to forget that tribute you wrote to me, by the way, since the one you picked is one of my fave Elvis OS. Anyways, I never would believed that anyone would submit millions of songs on that site! LOL!!! Well, TT, you've been writing for a long time anyways and you're (and FG) a professional parodist, TT. Great job and 555's!

OMR: You have 10,001,000 songs posted at the moment.

Everyone else: It seems OMR *did* click the link and get the gimmick. ;-)

@ TJC: In hex, it's only 41....,the fathoming was in the link, as said to OMR.

Oh, now I get it, after reading the comment and clicking on the link. Yeah, I didn't think it was that many. Anyway, 525,600 comments- how do you measure, measure a song

Warren Baker: True, but then you have to break them up into groups of four, else you become astigmatic looking at them.- ... Also, it would give away the gag too early -- and look weird -- if it were titled, "1000 0001 Songs..." .. would you agree?

Phil Nelson: These writers -- the reptile in particular -- often suffer from link overload (and let's not even talk about footnote overload ) .... but they're sometimes there for a *reason*, as to explain something that would otherwise be obscure. It enlarges their range past doing only what is plainly obvious on its face, and those two weirdos think that sometimes, that's more fun. :-)

Mark Scotti: Thank *you* for your kind v/c at our chance to thank those who encouraged the budding (sometimes, "butting" ;) duet! ... I assumed that given your "assembly" comment at the song linked at the bottom, that you'd catch the gag here immediately. :-)

Old Man Ribber: Actual count of total parodies on the site, at last count: 64,818. (That's in decimal. In bin, it's 1,111,110,100,110,010, or as Warren will want me to put it, 11111101 00110010.) Thanks for your continued encouragement to all -- and for taking the time to check out the gag!

2Eagle: Thanks, friend. ... I'm sure we have a long and winding road ahead of us. ;)

Andria: We (team) are nowhere near the top 10, but just started last summer. (TT's a bit higher, having been here off and on for four years.) Anyway, it's quality that counts, not quantity, right? .... thanks for v/c.

AFW: See comment to CMM -- wouldn't want you to spend all that time hunting through the archives (wink)! ... thanks for v/c.

Warren Baker: Right on both counts. :-) three counts, actually, as you remembered to include leap years ;) ... thanks for v/c. (btw, TT's been writing parodies since he was about ten [decimal] years old, which is longer ago than he cares to admit, but met FG only last summer ["Suddenly, Last Summer"] -- but better late than never. :=D )

TJC: Close: binary puns, hidden only by the effort of clicking a link (wink! -- rhymes with "link"). Thanks for v/c!

Christie Marie M: Thanks for adding that we hit one of your Elvis faves -- it was a lucky shot, based on the fact that the title paces and scans perfectly to your nick. ... and actually (to translate all of the funky math on this page), this was the 65th post by the team, and your trib was the 66th. Not all that high; the rest was just math smoke-and-mirrors. :-) Thanks for all of your wonderful v/c's!

Marian, The Binarian (mulitiple times): Thanks for clearing things up. When readers don't get a song -- it bytes! ;)

Phil Nelson: Thanks -- and you're right, how *do* you measure a song? Whichever way, always appreciate your v/c.

Karen Carpenter: ROFLMAO! Nice catch, from up there in R 'n R Heaven!

Marian and Warren: Don't you two know any other numbers besides 0 and 1? ... You know, like, say, D, E, and F? ... Expect to see a John Barry "Screamin' Jay Hawkins" parody, "I Put A Hex On You" ... which is still better than having someone take a hex dump on you. ;-D

Warren Baker: You might be kidding, but there's a comment from programmer Adam Eccleshall at the "explanation" parody linked at the bottom, that he would be working on a project in base 62.
