Original Song Title:

"California Sun"

Original Performer:

Joe Jones

Parody Song Title:

"California's Dumb"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

Joe Jones (better known for "You Talk Too Much") originated it in 1961, while the Rivieras had the better-known version in 1964. I guess Guy is right: If you're dumb enough to vote for a guy with no political experience and who thinks that budget deficits can be reduced by cutting taxes, then you deserve the disaster to come. (Not Guy's exact words, of course.)
Well, I'm goin' out west where they vote wrong!
Where the memory's short, and the nose is long!
Well, they walk and gawk.
They talk their shlock.
They twist, and they miss.
They shimmy, "Oh, gimme gimme!"
Yeah, they're out there having fun
but don't you know, California's dumb.

Well, I'm goin' out west, out on the coast
where the California girls are Arnold's host!
Well, they walk and gawk.
They talk their shlock.
They twist, and they miss.
They shimmy, "Oh, gimme gimme!"
Yeah, they're out there having fun
but don't you know, California's dumb.

Well, the girls are frisky in old Frisco.
And Arnold feels 'em up, makes their taxes low.
And they walk and gawk.
They talk their shlock.
They twist, and they miss.
They shimmy, "Oh, gimme gimme!"
Yeah, they're out there having fun
but don't you know, California's dumb.

Well, only half the vote in old L.A.
meant bad news for old Governor Gray.
And they walk and gawk.
They talk their shlock.
They twist, and they miss.
They shimmy, "Oh, gimme gimme!"
Yeah, they're out there having fun
but don't you know, California's dumb.
Yeah, they're out there having fun
but don't you know, California's dumb.

Tell ya what, California: You can have Ahnold as Governor Pervert, if you give back the Dodgers and Giants. Keep the baseball teams, and you gotta keep Gray Davis. What's it gonna be, Ahnold, or the real Terminator, Barry Bonds?

I'm a California native and I think it would have been alot funnier if you made up a song about the hick town that your from instead of bashing the best state this country has! You should replace the work California with your first name....song would be a hit!

I totally agree with you, Nicole. I also happen to be a native (and resident) of California, where I've lived my entire life.

As for the parody itself, I didn't vote anything since I don't know the original song.

Michael, the Dodgers and Giants moved to California 12 years before you were born! Get over it and be thankful for the Mets.

The point that Schwarzenegger is making (and that California voters endorsed) about taxes is that under Davis, high taxes and high levels of regulation were driving businesses out of the state. So, yes, lower taxes and a friendlier regulatory environment will help stop the flow of businesses to Nevada and other states and make it easier to balance the budget.
