The Lyrics

I have no idea why this song called for this parody, but I gave up trying to figure out how I think years ago! Lame title, I know, but what the heck. I almost called it "New Year's Road Warrior Song" - lol! (NOTE: For those who may not know, B.A.C. is "Blood Alcohol Content")
It's now December thirty-first, the race has just begun
The drunks are all out tryin' to prove who'll have the biggest fun.
They'll check out all the parties and from bar to bar they'll roam.
Then those who do not pass dead out will try to make it home.

Lost in a drunk and foggy haze they'll stumble from the bars.
And like a bunch of morons, they'll hop into their cars.
They'll be out there a -weavin', the terror of the road.
Because they just can't handle such an alcoholic load!

CHORUS
The roads are like a battlefield on every New Year's Eve.
You gotta dodge the drunks or else they'll make your mother grieve.
They'll hit the roads a -weavin' and they'll spin those cars around.
And if you're out there driving then they just might cut you down!

The cops will man the checkpoints all through that fatal night.
They'll catch a few inebriates and lock 'em all up tight.
But still all through the wee hours, you'll hear that screeching sound
And when the smoke has cleared away, another drunk is down

For hours through the weary night they'll try to dodge the fuzz.
The designated drivers, too, have surely caught a buzz.
So if you're out there driving, you really shouldn't be.
'Cause one out of four drivers has a sky-high B.A.C.!

CHORUS

The few who wake on New Year's Day to see the mornin' sun.
They prob'ly won't remember how they made their drunken run.
But when the cops knock at the door and say "Please come with us!"
They'll have to pay the consequence for causin' such a fuss!

So sober drivers everywhere, please take a tip from me.
Stay off the roads this night or else departed you may be!
Sleep over at your buddy's house on sofas, floors or bunks.
Yes, live to see the New Year! Leave the dying to the drunks!

CHORUS

I had a comment here earlier, I thought, but now somehow it is no longer here.

Nice job Stray. You gotta give them drunks a break, they just gotta drive since they are too drunk to walk. I could have sworn the first time I read this that the last line said 'Leave the driving to the drunks' but upon rereading it I see what I thought was 'driving' is actually 'dying'. I LOLed that thought but this is still very well done. I for sure do not usually venture out on New Years Eve. Merry Christmas. .

Terrific!!! This one deserves to be on stage and on a CD od holiday songs, maybe even in a McGruff commercial. Too bad I deliver the San Antonio Express-News for a living, I don't have a choice. One thing, though, I limit myself to one coffee-cup of red wine a day, and never before I drive. Happy new year, everyone, hopefully someone will see or hear this song and reconsider.

In fact, Stray, I think you should go over to Yahoo and post that in my Spoofs and Parodies group. The link can be found under most of my parodies. MM
