With the sound of artillery
The beginning of the end
For the “thousand year” Reich

With the approaching Red Hoard
And my heart is filled
With a thousand fears

Facing imminent defeat
The term “surrender” is not heard
Volkssturm units take positions, HJ spreads the word

Flak and PAK guns start firing
At enemy tanks up the street
As German tanks and infantry slowly retreat

Deluged by enemy armor and manpower
The battle is fiercely waged
While Hitler cowers in the bunker, no reinforcements are on the way
The battles rage throughout the night
In the dark, Red Army tanks leading the way
But endless firing of Panzerfausts make some of them easy prey

I am trapped in the rubble of Berlin
As the heavy guns roar
Such destruction I have never seen
In my life before
Nothing is left,
with the announcement of Hitler’s death
Alas, Nazi Germany is no more…
