Song Parodies -> "Spidermanlovesmarijuanaeverybodyknowsit"

Original Song Title:

"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"

Original Performer:

Julie Andrews

Parody Song Title:

"Spidermanlovesmarijuanaeverybodyknowsit"

Parody Written by:

Tommy Turtle

The Lyrics

"Jones" = addiction or obsession.... Does anyone have a link to a complete and correct OS lyric, with all verses and the dialogue? OS lyric for this parody was cobbled together from this one and this one, and the dialogue, pacing, etc. follow from the result.
TOMMY TURTLE:

Dumb Klem Kadiddlehopper, klutz of a guy
Though he is Spider-Man, he can't catch a fly

Why:
Spidermanlovesmarijuanaeverybodyknowsit!
Face has such a vacant look,
It obviously shows it
If you doubt it, just observe
How constantly he blows it

ALL:

Spidermanlovesmarijuanaeverybodyknowsit!
He tells a little whopper; white kind of lie
If he should come a cropper, now you know why!

NERD:

Poor Peter Parker played the part
Of picture-perfect dork
He tripped and stumbled clumsily
At college and at work
Most folks assumed quite naturally
That Peter was a jerk

NERD, TOMMY TURTLE, AND CHORUS:

The honest explanation was
He had a secret quirk! Lurk!

Spidermanlovesmarijuananothisisntfiction!
Psycho-logic habit formed
It borders on addiction
Messes up his mind, this in-
-escapable affliction
Almostturnedhisheroismintodereliction!

Not happy with his life as hero or nerd
Flight from reality is what he preferred

TOMMY TURTLE:

Denies that he is really hooked;
Refuses to admit;
At any time he wanted to,
He thinks that he could quit

NERD:

The Spider doesn't rea-
-lize how badly bug has bit
He's come undone in web he spun
He's trapped like any nit!

NERD, TOMMY TURTLE, AND CHORUS:

Twit!
Auntmaysalwaystellinghimyoudontlookwellalotson
Wish that I could figure out
This problem that you've got, son
Hope it isn't HIV
Or other bug you've caught, son
Peterpleaseconfideinmepleasetellmewhatohwhatson!

Why can't a physics geek have high-paying job?
What turns his brain to mush; this genius, to slob?

TOMMY TURTLE:

You know, he talks all ass-backwards
Mumbles knowsitbodyeveryjuanamarimanlovesredips
This wack's going a bit too far,
Don't you think?

Indubitably!

Impairs his normal faculties
His mental sharpness, blunts

Can't hear!

He tried without success
To kick the habit twice or once
In spite of secret he bemoans
Still, evildoers: hunts

Um, your opinion?

Yes?

THE GIRLIE:

While he thinks it's a merry Jones
I'd call him "cursed" and "dunce"!

Oh, and a f***-up thing he is, too!

ALL:

Just when I think this OS has been exhausted of possibilities, someone like you comes and proves me wrong. Great work, TSOMmy Turtle (wrong movie, funny spelling nonetheless...). I voted 5s, though seperating the words in the end verse would have made for an easier read.

Regarding your top question, the second lyrics site looks mostly correct. I had to d/l TOS to make my parody of it as every lyrics site I went to was quite different. See

It's too early in the year for for anyone to be interested in Easter egg hunts (the three other hidden references to Peter's sweetie, Mary Jane Watson). Shoulda posted this in early April, Mr. Turtle.

No matter how many rediculous ideas are made for this song, I'll continue to be amazed each time I see a new one. I myself, probably won't touch this one anytime soon. . .enough good parodies of it have been made--at least not until no ones done one for awhile.
Tommy Turtle - January 08, 2007 - Report this comment
Rexithankyouverymuchforkindlyvotesandcomments... Your ideas are great ('specially loved "Thor...Hammered lol). Go for it -- looking forward to seeing you do these.

Yoidy, high thanks!

The Easter Bunny, I guess so. Thanks for hopping -- I mean, stopping -- by.

Below Average Dave, glad you thought this idea was ridiculous :-) lol.... thanks for votes and comments.

Red Ant: (saved longest comment for last of this group, to spare the others having to wade through) If I had separated the words in the last chorus, would you not have dinged me for not being true to the OS? ... I certainly hope so; it was yourself who called me on the syllable count at my first attempt at this OS, "Superflu-ousparodiesaremadeupfromthisditty" www.amiright.com/parody/60s/marypoppins12.shtml, and it was indeed your "Avril" parody which clued me that there were spoken lines in the OS, along with Phil Alexander's "Rubik's Cube: It Gave Me RSI And Tendonitis" www.amiright.com/parody/60s/marypoppins10.shtml. ...I've still never seen the movie. The two of you were sources for my research (or as Phil would say, "plagiarism") on the OS. I encountered the same problem you did of every lyrics site having it differently... The second lyrics site seems to have the dialogue, but doesn't tell who's saying it, and their "dukes" line is missing the "maharajahs" bit, no? Hence the patchwork. Maybe AmIRight could post the AIR Official OS for all future parodies?... there's an idea....

Thanks much for the first two comments. You lost my pea-brain, though, on the "wrong movie/spelling" reference. Explain to this reptile, please???

Thanks again for all your contributions in making me whatever-T-F kind of parodist I am today :)

No way I would have dinged you for separating the words. The syllable count and emphasis remains the same. It'sjustaloteasiertoreadstuffwhenallthewordsarespacedthewayweareusedtonormallyreadingthem, yes? =)

TSOMmy was a reference to The Sound Of Music (TSOM).

There will never be an official (i.e., 99+% complete and accurate) lyrics site unless I make one, which is something I've considered doing before since many sites have less than stellar examples of what is actually in the song, and how it is sung (formatted). I d/l a set of lyrics, listen to TOS, then flesh out any inconsistencies I find from the downloaded lyrics. Rarely will using lyrics sites alone allow a parodist to make a high-five paced parody if he is otherwise DKTOS.

By the way, quite a few lyrics sites have pop-ups and spy-cookies, which is something else I need to bring up on the messageboard when I get a chance.

AFW, thanks... good one :)

Red Ant: Yes. Sorry I didn't -- trying too hard to mimic OS.

Duh, me!... I kept confusing the two movies when researching OS anyway, so shoulda thought of that.

I was suggesting that you make one (official OS site). It would help us parodists, esp. with pacing, and it would help us judge others' parodies, *especially* with pacing. What's perfect pacing by one OS site is way off according to another -- perpetual problem both in composing and in rating.

I'm not into the napster-kazaa kinda thing and too cheap to pay for song d/ls :)

Use Firefox 2.0 web browser with the NoScript add-on. You don't need to be a tech-head -- I'm not. Tell NoScript to block all scripts (executable code that runs in your web browser, some helpful, some OK, some malicious as you said) except that which is specifically from the site, not from third parties, and then only from sites you absolutely trust, (like your bank), and then only when the site absolutely needs it, i. e. when some feature you want (like looking at canceled checks) won't work without the script enabled. End of most spyware problems.

They have a built-in cookie manager, too. Tools - Options - Privacy -- Cookies - check "Accept", but in "Keep until" choose "Ask me every time". When you are asked by a site to allow a cookie, say "Deny" to all but trusted or absolutely needed sites, then say "Allow for session". Check "Use my choice for all cookies from this site". It will remember and build your list of which sites you allow, and the "session" choice will automatically remove all cookies every time you close the browser. You can also clear them manually Ctrl+Shift+Delete. One more change: Open browser, type in address bar: about:config -- enter. Scroll down to "network.cookie.cookieBehavior -- double-click, enter the number "1", OK. This will permanently disable all third-party cookies -- those placed by anyone other than the site you are visiting, such as ad agencies, etc. -- forever. End of spy-cookie problem.

Also, get the free tool "Spyware Blaster" from ht*tp://www.javacoolsoftware.com/. It blocks spyware and tracking cookies in both Internet Exploder and Firefox. End of nearly all spyware problems.

Funny, I've had a parody on this topic (spyware) in the back of my mind for a while...

Brilliant, Tommy! Great premise, lots of humour, fab use of language, lots of variation in the choruses and bridges...and this time I don't have to "chew your ass" for pacing, which was IMHO pretty much perfect. 555+

Kristof Robertson, :-D
As I said at the time of your "tough love" comment last Feb., "When you're right, you're right". If you hadn't called me on it, I would have continued to make the same mistake if/when did any more on this OS.... and makes these VC all the more meaningful. Thanks, Kristof.

fantastic stuff, TT - I'm not big on Spiderman (no room for Mary AND me anyway) - have to bone up I guess - but what a ride the read was - my favourite line was the perfect "Poor Peter Parker played the part of picture-perfect dork" - brilliant

as for the easter eggs, I think I managed to miss them all, unless the reverse (and lewd) phonetic version of the title near the end was one (I'm tipping that with the "redips" which is very TT, it might well have been ;-)) - 555
Tommy Turtle - January 31, 2007 - Report this comment
Leave it to Stuart McArthur to find one that the Easter Bunny put in there without telling TT! :) :) lol ;-) A Freudian egg-slip?

Thanks for VC, Stuart. The burrowing being buried the eggs unusually deeply in the burrow even for him; the rest of the eggs were unearthed here: www.amiright.com/parody/60s/julieandrews89.shtml.
