The Lyrics

NAACP President turns out NOT to be Black, but White!!! She invented a false history, but her parents had enough and outed her. She seems dazed and caught in a web of deceit. Can she recover and set things straight?
Rachel, Rachel
How can it be
That you're not Black
Lack honesty?

Born German and Czech
To a White family
Cute little girl
Looked like Jan Brady!

Adopted Black siblings
How you loved them so
Immersed in Black culture
But how far would you go?

Rachel, Rachel
How can it be
That you're not Black
Lack integrity?

Got your parents upset
Deny ethnicity
Abandoned your world
Claimed false paternity
(And a Black family)

So wrong
For so long
Parents outed you
CNN then caught on

You're on TV
Acting silly

Rachel, Rachel
What will you do?
Go Transracial
Or deny the truth???

You got both sides freaking out

Rachel, Rachel
Hey Rachel
Just try to being
YOU!
And tell the truth...

Just listening to a radio talk show host who notes that it is celebrated to undergo drastic surgery in order to pretend to be a sex you were not born into. But it is not right to pretend to be of a different "race". What people are calling "race" is more accurately described as "culture". People can adapt hair styles, color their skin, take on speech and mannerisms. This happens all the time. There is nothing inherently wrong with preferring the music, food, activities or company of Black people. But to deny one's actual origins, especially when the truth is so easily found out, is stupid.

Rachel resigned from her chapter today. She made a short statement about continuing to help others but didn't directly address her situation. I agree that one can take on any culture as a preference and adapt to it... but she crossed the line when she started to lie about her racial origin. She denied her own race and family, causing hurt. I personally think she is mentally ill, because she seemed genuinely confused when asked if she was African American by CNN.

I've been listening to this crap about whether Rachel is black because she likes rap, frizzy hair dos, and collard greens, OR she can't be black because it takes a black skin to experience the quotidien racism that indelibly shapes the African-American soul. Anyone who has seen The Jerk knows that a white person can be fooled by the overbearing black culture to act black, but somehow he retains this mysterious affinity for Cole Porter songs and Twinkies, and he has no sense of rhythm. So it's much too complicated for Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper, who have more than their share of identity issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6AlQgq9MRE

I have self-identified as an Eskimo since I was a baby. My family lived in the only igloo in Brooklyn. What are you kidding? We were poor. Poor I tell you. How poor? My father Nanook used to go to the Prospect Park zoo in the middle of the night to catch seals. We were all Eskimos trapped in Jewish bodies. And we got no respect. No respect at all.

Why the 1s? Rachel as President of her NAACP Chapter in Washington did nothing wrong concerning her ethnic identification and her physical and cultural transformation. But when she lied about her Caucasian birth and of who her parents were, that is deception and NOT a quality the NAACP nor any other cultural organization should accept. She deliberately hurt her parents as well as her four African-American adopted siblings, once claiming one of her brothers was her son!!! It is right that she resign. Her parents outed her dutifully and CNN asked a simple question- was she African-American? She looked dazed and confused. She was exposed and many African-American women do not like that she claimed to be one of them when she was in fact born white of German-Czech background. There's nothing worse than a self-loathing race denier. She has transformed herself into looking like a Negro but she never will be a Negro genetically nor by blood. She is a poser and was found out. That's on her for lying... which had nothing to do with racism. Just honesty and integrity.

All the fuss is about Rachel telling a "white" lie and positioning herself, based on racist, colonist British taxonomy, at a lower level in the human hierarchy. She did it in the service of a worthy cause. Blacks are passing as whites all the time, and we patronizingly forgive them because it's only natural to want to be superior. I red-flagged all that with 1s.

No, she didn't tell a white lie, she hurt her parents and adopted siblings by claiming black birth and another black father and son. While the NAACP does not discriminate based on race, the CP still stands for Colored People for representation. Rachel Dolezal was NEVER a Negro and is still NOT a Negro, but claims to be! She was outed and exposed as a liar. I have sympathy for her, but she should apologize to those she misled deliberately, including her white German-Czech parents. That's the right thing to do.
