The Lyrics

OK...readers can interpret this parody two different ways. First, it can be read in the spirit of the original as a plaudit to home and beliefs. Also, some can interpret this as a scathing putdown of the last state to which stereotyping is accepted and political correctness doesn't apply. Take it either way...I'm just a parodist! ;D

We don't hate the U.S. in Kentucky.
We don't hip-hop rap dance on the flag.
We don't trash our country in all the classrooms,
And on our playgrounds our kids still play tag.

"Cause we know we're very lucky in Kentucky.
We would rather work than take the dole.
We enjoy our bourbon and love our horses,
And hope the E.P.A. won't outlaw coal.

We don't wear our pants with butt cheeks showing.
Calling women "hos" is not our way.
We treat others as we would be treated,
And "race" is what we watch on Derby Day.

For it's certainly not yucky in Kentucky.
If you're in trouble we won't run and hide.
Late-term unborns we respect as living,
And marriage means male groom and female bride.

We don't see the help in useless regulations.
We're upset by governmental fraud.
Law-abiding sane folks can have firearms,
And we don't spit on those who worship God.

All we folks are downright plucky in Kentucky.
We're always in the game for the long haul.
'Though we're scorned by the pop culture elitists
We don't care. We have U.K. basketball.
Perhaps that's why they're jealous of us all.
In Kentucky U.S.A. we have a ball.

Note: This of course does NOT apply to Louisville, which actually may be a part of Illinois. ;D

Hiya Rob! I've missed much, including JAB's 4000th (9 was enough for Beethoven...hehe). As for the rifle, I believe the tale of "our" famous weapon begins in Pennsylvania. I hope everything is going as well as can be expected. Peace be with you. ;D

Glad to see there is still a sane place left in this country, and someone to celebrate it. The folks in 1861 were not all wrong. Dump slavery and try again. Maybe this time we will secede. JAB surely had a spectacular farewell--98 in one day, is what I counted. Check out my most recent "If Gordon Lightfoot Sang 'Mary Had a Little Lamb'", I think you're in it.

Just dropped in to welcome you back. As a diehard bluegrass/mountain soul fan (y'all got BOTH kines), I salute your salute to your home state. Makes me want to try something for mine (Victoria, Australia) some time. We all got both kines - and bovines.
