On the 100th anniversary of my Dad's birth, Im going to tell the tale of the path that a kid from Wisconsin took that landed him in Arizona .... "Bethany Home" is the name of a tuberculosis sanatorium that was located in Phoenix 100 years ago, taking advantage of the dry air. Its also a metaphor for Phoenix as ten of thousands of other WW2 gen couples came to Phoenix post WW2 for other respiratory problems ... like my mother. Bethany Home, BTW, is clearly an allusion to the Biblical story of Lazarus of Bethany, who rose back from the dead

Stationed in Philly
When who should he meet
But a gal with OPB*
Chronic, that is .. Asthma prone
Coughing sprees
Well, the first thing ya know
