The Lyrics

This is not connected to the Nat King Cole themed parodic pas de deux between John Barry and Rob Arendt, but it was inspired by it. Today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, and so I give you
L .. is for the Latin Mass I'll do
E .. is every time I pass on brew
N .. is nary, nary; not a swig of sherry
T .. 's a T-bone steak, that I vow
I won't partake, and

Lent, is what the Church prescribes for you
Lent, is all the things you vow to eschew
CHEW .. a piece of brisket
Take away and bring me fish sticks
Lent's a trial for you and me

L .. somber liturgy that I'll attend
E .. 's for Easter; just around the bend
N .. novena prayering; in the sanctuary
T .. is true penance fer, all the deeds
That I abjur, and

Lent, a trial that's meant to strengthen you
Lent, lasts longer than a week or two
TUE .. sday's your last libation
Now six weeks of abnegation
Lent is a test for you and me

Lent's a trial for you and me

Lennie - Joan Rivers had a line that the only time she ever got a date was with Catholic boys during Lent. I grew up in a neighborhood where my brother and I were the only kids who had to go to school on Holy Days, so I get (and enjoy) all the lines. Libation/abnegation is a gem! ;D

Nice work-555! I have a request though... can you please spell my last name correctly as Arndt (no e in there)? And when leaving comments on my threads just call me Rob instead of Robert... thnx. Unless a person asks me to, I just use their S/Ns instead of first names: JAB, AFW, OMR, and you as CML If you wanna use RA for me, that is acceptable. Peace.
