Original Song Title:

"Solitary Man"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Neil Diamond

Parody Song Title:

"Flake Tea Party Man"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

Yes, I'm well aware that my bete noire, Michael Douglas, is starring in a new film titled "Solitary Man." This is about a far greater enemy, someone, as Douglas would have said in "The American President," whose 15 minutes are up.
(instrumental opening)

Obama was fine, 'til the time that I was told
he's Muslim.
Now I hate him.

Hawaii's where he was born, but now I'm torn.
Kenya was?
Jakarta fuss?

Don't know that I will, but until I can find me
a shrink who will stay and won't play games of mind, he
I'll be what I am:
A flake, Tea Party man.

I've had up to here with his spending and taxes.
Worse than Bush.
My brain's mush.

I know it's been done, having conservative Prez.
To Reagan'a right.
One that's white.

Don't know that I will, but until I can find me
a shrink who will stay and won't play games of mind, he
I'll be what I am:
A flake, Tea Party man.

(instrumental break)

Don't know that I will, but until I can find me
a shrink who will stay and won't play games of mind, he
I'll be what I am:
A flake, Tea Party man.
Flake, Tea Party man.
Hmmmm...

(instrumental fadeout)

"I'm Andrew Shepherd and I AM the President!". (Yes, I've seen it and also was a West Wing addict...all conservatives aren't the Richard Dreyfuss portrayal!) Good parody! ;D

The Constitution sets out very minimal qualifications to be President. Obama is definitely minimal. He is Irish American, great grandson of a Civil War veteran, over 35 years old. So am I. We were both born in the USA (Hawaii/Kansas). I don't care about his skin color. He doesn't care if I have a job or discretionary money to spend. He believes the Constitution is a wall decorator in a frame. I believe it is the mechanism for finding a way out the nation's problems. We both have song writers articulating our positions on this obscure web site. I haven't posted anything for a couple months. Will have to get my pen and paper out again. "Tea Party Man" is well written to a tune that presents some challenges.

Didn't realize that Obama would be worse than Bush. I wondered about other peoples' take on the Prez. I'm still having mixed feelings about him, that's for sure. Sure as heck don't want to have tea with that flake, though! LOL!!

Very tongue in cheek. Loved it.

MP - Are you serious? This is done in the first person and unless you are being sarcastic it would seem that you have changed your thinking. If this is so, who'd a thunk it. I'm glad if you are now seeing the light, but fool me once - you know the adage. I like the parody much - I think, that is if it can be taken at face value.

It's not sarcastic, it's satirical. You know, like Tom Lehrer's "It Makes a Fellow Proud to Be a Soldier." I have seen the light. It's the right wing that's on the Dark Side.

It's still sarcastic and it's all flaked up as well. So you fool me once... Wake up and smell the oil, will ya?
