The Lyrics

I don't mean to step on toes. I'd simply like to dedicate this digression to Royce Miller for his consideration. He opened the can of worms and holy smoke! I was inspired. (No one got back to me on how to forward this.) I just thought a few more twists make this song timely still. Thanks Royce, you're great!
Puffs of magic Pope smoke
Came from the See
And frolicked Roman Catholics
There's no more vacancy!

e-bay and the papers
Love religious buffs
Who bought key rings and blessed things
And other popish stuff

Bells and smoke and mirrors
Pilgrims got the news
Habemus Papum -- We have a Pope!
You can lose them popeless blues

Oh, puffs of magic Pope smoke
Came from the See
And frolicked Roman Catholics
There's no more vacancy!

By popemobile he'll travel
Tradition will prevail
As Protestants keep a lookout perched
On BBC's news reel

The righteous and the faithful
Will bow and chant his name
Priests and Bishops will wave their flags
And play the Pope love game

Oh, puffs of magic Pope smoke
Came from the See
And frolicked Roman Catholics
There's no more vacancy!

Puffs of magic Pope smoke
Cloud the Papacy
Papa Ratzi in our midst
Behold the controversy

Mike Jackson likes red shoes too
But no so little boys
Yet I confess I do digress
[BAND INTERCESSION - tune of "Bad" by Jackson "I'm bad, I'm bad, you know it...who's bad?"]
Let's dwell on righteous joys

The Spirit lives forever
But not so altar boys
Religion always likes to have
Its share of sacred toys

One grey day it happened
John Paul got marked down
And 4 votes later Benedict's
The best-seller in town

Ordination has its sorrows
Keepsakes sell in vain
Some amount of fantasy
Can take away the pain

Without religious trappings
Sinners can't be brave
So blow that smoke from Vatican
Even LIBERALS can be saved

Oh, puffs of magic Pope smoke
Came from the See
And frolicked Roman Catholics
There's no more vacancy!

Puffs of magic Pope smoke
Came from Italy
Apostolic deals for sale
In a land called holy

Lisa, I got your forwarded email from Chucky and answered you today; but it's okay that you did your thing and acknowledged that I am the original author of the parody; I have read it in a hurry, but the one line I certainly do like is about Liberals--- I don't have a problem with people doing what you did, with my parody, as long as I'm given credit, as you have done; although I think everyone would prefer this kind of thing to be held to a minimum.

PS to Lisa---Now that you've done a parody of my parody, I would like to see one that's purely your own. Best wishes.

Some very good lines, Lisa, including "Papa Ratzi" and "even liberals can be saved." I agree with Royce that you make more contributions to AmIRight based on parodies of original songs.
