The Lyrics

Another one of them Harry Potter-themed parodies! OS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbIMx2MYNXk Subject: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Muggles%27_Guide_to_Harry_Potter/Characters/Crookshanks http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Muggles%27_Guide_to_Harry_Potter/Magic/Kneazle
Crookshanks, the weird
Kneazle/cat!
Orange fur and squashed-in face,
Pops up
Every place.
Up to something
We can’t explain.

Hermione Granger,
Third-year witch,
Wants an owl, yet
Buys a kneazle.
Oh, no!
Why she bought him,
She can’t explain.

Scabbers Rat,
Better run!
You’re a fake, yes:
Animagus.
He knows! Crookshanks knows!
That cat’s scary
As You-Know-Who!

Sprang the door to
Shrieking Shack!
Prowling on the Hogwarts grounds,
Can be found
Near Grim Black hound.
Cat knows something
We can’t explain!

I wonder if Syd read any Harry Potter before he passed on. He very likely would have dug it.Not a perfect parody for pacing, but you tickled me Pink. (I read all the books but I don't remember anything about 'kneazles'!)
Melanie Lee - March 11, 2015 - Report this comment
The kneazle wasn't mentioned in the books themselves. I forgot the term for facts about a story that aren't in the story itself (extraliterary?), but the kneazle is in the Harry Potter canon. See the links in the introductory paragraph.

Tween trash, like hunger games and divergent. Grow up already!

I am very disappointed in how most of you rated this parody. First of all, I WORKED on it for several days. The pacing is very good; if you listened to the OS while reading the parody lyrics, you would know this. Second of all, if you don't like the SUBJECT of this parody, perhaps you shouldn't bother to rate it, since you could hardly judge it fairly. BTW, an ADULT wrote Harry Potter, and ADULTS who write literary scholarship have treated the Harry Potter series like a deep, serious work of literature. Of course, you are free to dislike my work, but at least be fair about judging it! Or are most of you just trolling?

You mean the same adults that want to make the flying broom game an Olympic sport? BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Like I said, you don't have to like the parody or the subject, but you should respect the effort. Ultimately, we're here to support each other--even with CONSTRUCTIVE criticism--not to tear each other down.

Precisely, Melanie. I am 44, have read the potter books three times over, and still also read Thomas Pynchon, James Joyce and many others. A good story is a good story, no matter the supposed age level it is geared to.

Hey, look at the bright side. If a teen/tween wrote this parody then at least she knows PINK FLOYD. Now THAT'S culture, baby! When I was in college and actually saw PINK FLOYD in concert there were plenty of ignoramuses and zealots who claim that PINK FLOYD (or any psychedelic rock whatsoever) just did nothing but "promote" the so-called "drug culture". So Have A Cigar with Any Color/Leafy Stuff You Like, Melanie. Cheers!

Yeah right, JKR rates up there wth Tolstoy, Shakespeare, Austen, Dickens, Nobokov, Dostoevsky, Twain, Chekhov, Faulkner, Woolf, etc...
Melanie Lee - March 18, 2015 - Report this comment
JKR obviously rates with J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, and perhaps with Lewis Carroll, P.L. Travers, J.M. Barrie, and Frank L. Baum. You know, those writers of insignificant, forgettable children's books. BTW, I'm 58. My older brother played Pink Floyd and other "art rock" albums a lot when I was a child. Oh,,,didn't Mark Twain write children's books, too?

Harry Potter books aren't serious literature and none make the top ten on any serious list of best books of all time. In an apocalypse only a geek would grab HP over the greats. And people who participate in this whimsical fantasy lifestyle need to grow up. Pink Floyd obviously f''d you up for life. You can't face reality.
