The Lyrics

midi...http://www.team-ict.com/midi/21/21.shtml. Scroll down to "Conquistador_pharum" and play. A good midi!"This is a parody that you interpret in ways that mean something to you."
Not any more, medallion's grand
I bleed for only me,
it's like numb brain cells until now
You seek your iniquity.
I see your much inflated quest
Has long since crossed the scene.
And in your "death" masked space
There's just opines which can be seen.

And though I looked for "ailing" I find
I could see just plays so entwined.

Conquistador, the name it fits
With my pow'r I can wield
And I've my musty plea barred now
My bland has taken heed.
And though I'm much distrusted made
It's yet been wondered still.
The key has washed across your pate
And 'tis a bitter pill.

And though I looked for upswings I find
I could see no phrase of it's kind.

And though I looked for upswings I find
I could see no phrase of it's kind.

I say no more there is no time
I mean no disrespect.
"And though I came to jeer at you"
I leave now it is met.
And as the doom began to call
See there are no ears, just us all.
And though I wished for words too shy
You did not query, only cry.

And though I looked for "ailing" I find
I could see just plays so entwined.

And though I looked for upswings I find
I could see no phrase of it's kind.

And though I looked for upswings I find
I could see no phrase of it's kind.

I love the way you make me think. something I'm not used to. A spooky song to parody, a spooky parody of it. I think it's a VERY gutsy look at a VERY current topic.

Great OS and parody! 555

Not only are you a "conquistador" of parodies, Adagio, but when it comes to swirling your literary-red-cape and deflecting the enraged bulls who demand obvious literal meanings in everything they see on AmiRight, you're a "MATADOR". ;-) 5s

Thanks J. Ulvang :)

Thanks Rick C.!

Thank you very much, Johnny!! Loved the comment. (Matador, eh?) :D

SOTM...the midi didn't work on my lame work computer...and I don't know the OS...but this was an interesting read.
Agrimorfee - September 08, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) You did 'Conquistador' previously, right? Wow, this one is even more lyrically dense---worthy of Sting.
Adagio - September 08, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks for the read, Arwen.

Yea, Agri., did it before..with a different title. Lots of authors do that. Lyrically dense? :) Did you read my disclaimer at the top? "This is a parody that you interpret in ways that mean something to you." Guess I wanted you to delve into your subconcious and see what was there. Sting?
;) Thanks for reading. :)

(SOTM) Very different and engrossing parody.
Adagio - September 10, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks Larry.

(SOTM) Wow, a MIDI that doesn't sound like a drunken cat on a keyboard. You continue your adagionian streak of poetic stylings.
Adagio - September 11, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks Luke. : )
EmiLoca - September 12, 2005 - Report this comment
SOTM - I wish I knew the original, the midi was really fun to jump around and polka to...a good read. This month is going to be a toughie.

Thanks EmiLoca! :)

SOTM-sorry, I don't know the original song funny though
Adagio - September 13, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks for reading, Dominic. I did provide a midi for judging at the top.
John Jenkins - September 15, 2005 - Report this comment
Adagio, you might be the Lewis Carroll of AmIRight, trying to inspire our "bland (imaginations) to take heed." Well done.

SOTM - I'm probably too sober to get this, I'll come back and read it again under more normal circumstances... :-)

Thanks John and Peter!!

(SOTM) Luke, my cat can play better than that HBG MIDI.

Adagio, I couldn't access this one either unfortunately. My mind is trying to put a literal meaning this an is f(l)ailing badly though I think your objective was to get people to think and not interpret this literally and it worked here.
Adagio - September 20, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks for reading, Red Ant...sorry you couldn't access the midi, but I am glad that you found out the main intent of the parody. : )

I've downloaded this OS before - for another of yours, I recall, Patagio - but I lost it, apparently, so I had to get it again. (After my Luke Brattoni "Riverbend" experience, there's no WAY I'm gonna download the midi.) It struck me this time that the Procol Harum dude pronounces it "kon-kwist-a-dor" not "kon-keest-a-dor," which is probably not how the actual conquistadors pronounced it. Just thought I should point that out, in case the Procol Harum dude reads this and decides to go back and take another crack at it. (In my experience, it's best not to piss off conquistadors.) As for the parody, it's certainly Adagioesque (with the last five letters pronounced "es-kwee").
Adagio - September 27, 2005 - Report this comment
hmm..'es-kwee'? Sounds almost like askew...lol. Anyway, thanks for the read, Spaff. ; ) Btw...the midi in this case is pretty good. I use the OS anyway.

(SOTM) You have once again confused me beyond belief :-)
Adagio - September 27, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks for the read Adam. Some time ago, I started making the comment up top of these serious ones to make it fit your circumstances. When I get deep into parodies like this, there is actually no hope of figuring it out. So, to paraphrase Johnny D, see if you "dig" it, not understand it. : )

(SOTM) See above, still great!
Adagio - September 30, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks all!

Tim, thanks, it seems that more people are looking for non-literal meanings.

Rex...it somewhat helps that I'm fond of sticking some lesser known words together...: )

Thanks, Rick!...as above! ; )

ABC3C - I didn't enter that SOTM so this is my first visit - I didn't get it, but I can imagine the video would be set in a fog-shrouded forrest, with hints of glistening steel and hoofbeats - 555
Red Ant - August 01, 2006 - Report this comment
(ABC3-C) I could have sworn I had TOS somewhere on my hard drive by now, but a search reveals no such file. I'm not sure if I voted before either, so that has been taken care of now. I still like this one. With many OSs I listen to, the artists often say 'interpret as you see fit', so I've no problem with that. Nice rhyming too.
