The Lyrics

My kids and I performed this for my little bro at his 40th birthday party. You can watch the video here, if you dare.
Comin' to ya
Like some crusty mold
Aches and pains
You'll have a buttload

You want wisdom
Well be patient
You've turned 40
You're SO ANCIENT

You're an old man
You're an OLD MAN
You're an old man
You're an OLD MAN

A new career
You'll soon start
Greeting folks
At Wal-mart

Drink prune juice, now
No alcohol
And don't forget
Your Geritol

You're an old man
You're an OLD MAN
You're an old man
You're an OLD MAN

Can't go buy
A car no more
You'll have to shop
The Scooter Store

You geezer, you
Ain't no pup
You've fallen and
You can't get up

You're an old man
You're an OLD MAN
You're an old man
You're an OLD MAN

So watch "Matlock"
And write your will
Go see the doc
And get your little blue pill
Yeah! (Yeah!) Yeah! (Yeah!)

You're an OLD MAAN (etc)

Congratulations to you 40 year old youngsters. When you get to be my age, you won't be able to remember 40.

40's not old. Neither is 41. After all, I'm the former and Catherine Zeta-Jones just turned the latter. Now, 66, that's old. Her husband just hit that. (See, as you get older, you stop "turning" the new age and start "hitting" it.) On the other hand, I long ago reached an age where I tell kids, "Turn that racket down! That's not music! It's got no melody! I can't understand the words!" Just like my parents' and grandparents' generations.

Life begins at fourty, one hundred and fourty that is, when your pulse hits that you're going places, even if it's just down...

My favorite parodies are always the one written for specific people and occasions. And if it is also as universal as this one, BRAVO! Nice job here...give us more! ;D

If he's your little brother, we know what that makes you! I hope we don't have to wait for your brother's 50th birthday for another Claude Prez parody on AmiRight.

I can laugh at this for precisely two more years before it hits a little too close to home. Interesting, it's your 2nd straight song with 'fallin can't get up' in it- that line made me laugh watching the video. (I watched it before reading it to get the effect better) Your family must love having you in it!

I've seen the video for this. Very funny. I can't imagine what it would be like to have you in the family... Are all of you guys crazy? lol

SOTM - Funny, I always thought that 50 is old! Well, anyways, my friend's older bro is in his 40's and already a grandfather when his teenage daughter got pregnant. Got lots of laughs with this one! Great song to write for your bro! 555.

Ever heard of "great minds think alike" . . .I'm afraid it applies here. Rex Ungericht did this song with this title and it was recorded a couple years back, yours is good, but I can't help comparing it to his. . .happens a lot though, and I know your talent level. . .so I know its just coincidence

Hey, thanks for the comments all. And BAD, I'm gonna have to plead guilty on that one; I make no pretense that this is a wholly original idea. In fact, I thought of "I'm An Old Man" years ago but didn't bother pursuing it because of Wild Man and Diva's "I'm Your Old Man". But my wife has been singing "You're An Old Man" to me for years (she loves reminding me I'm 3 1/2 years older than she is), and when I found out my little brother's wife was throwing him a 40th B-day party, I decided to go ahead and do it, even recycling some lines from my many previous elderly-bashing parodies (as pensworth helpfully pointed out). I've never remotely come close to performing before, so if you watch the video, you'll see everyone is pretty shocked but they enjoyed it. So, yeah, even though it's kind of a terrible video, I'm really proud of it so many thanks to anyone who watched and actually made it all the way through. Sorry for the really long comment but I just wanted to mention that. Thanks again, everybody.

(SOTM) If all of your family is as crazy as you seem to be as you seem to be in that video, you might come close to the rampant insanity that is my family. Simple parody, but still very funny (the video recording in particular is priceless). 555
Claude Prez's YOUNGER brother - November 05, 2010 - Report this comment
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my brother & my neices for a song & performance I will never forget for the rest of my life. I'd also like to address Matthias' comment: I can confidentally speak for the rest of our family when I say "Claude" has always been the comic relief in the movie that is our lives. This might be slightly biased but Jerry Lewis... Jim Carrey.... Robin Williams.... none of these guys can hold a candle to my bro. He has always loved to write funny poems or songs but never performed anything more than a stirring, yet mandatory, rendition of "We Are Buddies" after a brotherly blow-out. Just like so many here at Amiright, I look forward to reading his parodies and I encourage him to write as often as he gets the urge. Truth is, he has that Einstein thing going on.... he only uses like 10% of the humor his brain produces. He's a smart guy though. He prefers quality to quantity and I think he just doesn't want to burn out. So if he only produces 1 parody per year, I know I will laugh my @ss off at least once that year. In closing I'd like to clarify that he is in fact, older than THIS old man and his parody of The Joker (The Poper) has earned him a seat in hell. Not to worry.... I'll save him a seat.
