The Lyrics

I salute Dylan Baranski for the fine idea and great parodies for Bond History Month. Perhaps I can add something from an unusual angle. Eleven of the first fourteen Bond movies boasted film scores by the masterful John Barry (namesake of our own J.A.B.). Moreover, he is generally recognized as the author of the James Bond Theme which appears in every film. As a retired music teacher, I'd like to pay tribute to someone who was as much a part of the Bond franchise as M, Q, or Miss Moneypenny! ;D

(Instrumental)
(Dom Dom - Du Dwaa Dah, Dom Dom - Du Dwaa Dah,
Dom Dom - Du Dwaa Dah, Dom Dom - Du Dwaa Dah)

Humdinger!
Music man - who scored the most James Bond flicks.
John Barry clicks!
Wrote more Bond - film music than all the rest.
His stuff's the best!

He scored Bond flicks for twenty-five years,
And in all films his Bond Theme appears.
Of the Bond franchise he scored eleven,
He's the sound of Oh - Oh - Seven!

Mood Bringer!
Movie fans - a Bond program cannot start
Without John's art!

And he's done other great things as well.
His works won John five Oscars! Pray tell!
Dances With Wolves, Born Free, Some-where In Time,
Out Of Africa was sublime.

Bellringer!
'Though John shares - a great amiwriter's name,
They're not the same!
J.A.B.
Writes fine parody!
(Repeat final couplet and fade out)

John Barry (1933 - 2011) composed music for such diverse films as Zulu, The Ipcress File, The Lion In Winter, The Black Hole, The Cotton Club(!), Peggy Sue Got Married (!!), Chaplin, and Indecent Proposal. As our own John A. Barry sadly noted on this site, John Barry is no longer with us. ;D

Nice to see some recognition for John Barry, and especially with such a well-crafted parody. Also nice to see you back again, Ribber :^) I'm giving this a double-o-555 (which IS the same as a 555, isn't it? My maths is sooo bad....!)

Ditto what Alvin wrote. The Fleming books were among the first adult orientated books that I read as a young lad. I even bought Colonel Sun (the first one after Fleming) but lost interest after that one.

Rob - Rest easy! I will give John, Jerry, and Basil (not to mention EB, AN, and especially MR) their due. I did John Barry to tie in with the Bond Month. ;D
