The Lyrics

A google is a one with a whole lot of O's,
A program's just an engine that manipulates those.
Zeros and ones on silicon,
Refined by geeks who hack 'til dawn.

You load sixteen ones what's in the mix?
Sixty five thousand plus six thirty six,
Computer starts callin' and modules flow,
You got two words in the regristry core.

Well they learned one mornin' that their Sun wasn't fine,
It picked up a viral that done clocked its behind.
It loaded sixteen ones in program control,
And the mass bus bled to the host console.

You load sixteen ones what's in the mix?
Sixty five thousand plus six thirty six,
Computer starts callin' and modules flow,
You got two words in the regristry core.

Like a burn out warning down a sizzlin' main,
Try and shoot trouble in code that is lame.
In a daze from a brain break, nothin' worked they were tryin',
Was some unknown viral knocked its clock offline.

You load sixteen ones what's in the mix?
Sixty five thousand plus six thirty six,
Computer starts callin' and modules flow,
You got two words in the regristry core.

If It's C you're runnin', and your system's fried,
And loggin' in didn't, cause loggin' in died.
One disk got burned and the other's killed,
When you write ones it could get you,
If you let ones fill.

You load sixteen ones what's in the mix?
Sixty five thousand plus six thirty six,
Computer starts callin' and modules flow,
You got two words in the regristry core.

"Their Sun wasn't fine." Sun itself ain't fine. Sad case. 5s

If I was an ancient Athenian pagan, I might consider you to be a Geek God. Here's 555 jugs of Olympian Nectar.
Red Ant - March 16, 2005 - Report this comment
Cool, another math parody today. Sixteen ones, what do you get? 555 from Red Ant ( slight rounding error there )
Newfoghill - March 16, 2005 - Report this comment
Amazing to think that 300 years from now people are going to be sitting around softly glowing dilithium crystal cores strumming Garrison guitars and singing this very song. Hey, that Mr. Ford weren't bad!

Funny, Guy... but do I have to be the first pedant to point out that sixteen 1s in binary=65535? But a great concept, nonetheless :-)

Phil - You got me, no wonder I have trouble with sub net masking. I did a powers of two to the 16th and what the result actually is would be a 1 followed by 16 zeros. I should have known this would have been an odd number since the first bit is odd. Had I added the columns instead of multiplying the powers I would have arrived at the correct value, but then I'd have had a hard time rhyming something with five. LOL.

Hmm... maybe: "You load sixteen ones, and where'd you arrive"? Still, it's only a couple of bytes...

...just thought:
You load sixteen ones, and what do you get?
FFFF-FFFF in hex ;-)
Phil Alexander - March 16, 2005 - Report this comment
(Ooops... my turn: it's just FFFF in hex, ain't it?)
Adagio - March 16, 2005 - Report this comment
Pleasurable reading, I liked it a lot! 5's (I would say more, but wouldn't know what I was talking about here...it's just fun stuff)

John B. I'm not fond of Suns either, thanks.

Johnny D What a nice complement, thanks.

Alvin I didn't think of that until after it posted and I'd thought someone would think that. You didn't let me down.

Red Ant Another math parody of sorts will appear on this site at the next posting.

Newfoghill An interesting thought, thanks.

Phil I rewrote this parody and it will appear at the next posting on amiright. I tried to fix the math errors and I varied the chorus. Thanks for catching that goof up.

Thanks, Adagio, so glad you still enjoyed it.

Wherever he is, I'll bet Ernie is grinning over this. Just imagining him singing about computers... Of course, I tried the same thing with "Johnny Cash's Computer": "This box of mine... ties up the line." But it wasn't as good as this.
