The Lyrics

"There Has a Louse in DC Been"

There has a louse in DC been
since one two-oh oh-one.
He’s been our ruin, this good o’l boy,
and now’s “the demisin’ son”

His tenure’s been a failure
and soon he’ll leave the scene
with th’ economy a shambles and
a limboed war machine.

Also going is the bum’s VP,
that loser Cheney punk,
who drank, shot pal, and then denied
what he’d said about what he’d drunk.

------ organ solo ------

Oh, if ever Du(m)bya’s sibling,
Jeb, should opt to run
for president, may kinship history
keep White House from “the other one.”

Well, it’s good fun to watch the rats swarm
from Bush to John McCain
while knowin’ that the way he leans
they used to call their bane.

Well, there has a louse in DC been
since one two-oh oh-one.
He’s been our ruin, this good o’l boy,
and now’s “the demisin’ son.”

wonderfully written and so true

You could also sing this to "Amazing Grace", "Little Town of Bethlehem", "Ghost Riders in the Sky", "American the Beautiful", "The Thing", and, probably "Gilligan's Island". Sadly, whoever we elect in November will be just as inspiring for songwriters of our ilk.

The House that is White's been scummed.

Fine message, and expertly done

He said he would "restore honor and integrity to the White House." The people's vote said they didn't think it was necessary. Turned out, the bum couldn't even restore honor and integrity to HIS OWN HOUSE! Five points... and ten months until he's gone!

I'd of much rather had Jeb! then Dubya. At least Jeb! is capable of reason.

In case your wondering about the exclamation point, when he ran for governor in Florida, his bumper stickers just said "Jeb! For Governor." So now all the local papers always refer to him as Jeb! even in the middle of sentences.

Must agree - wonderfully written but I will let history and posterity determine how accurate and kind the findings will be to Dub & Dick. Will he be remembered like Nixon is or will he be seen as something else. Time only will tell. Whoever gets the power on this go 'round will have their hands full. I say only a masochist would want the job. Or someone with a death wish to die early from the stress of the job. Good job Stan. But next time try to inject a bit of humor - at least a bit more than is here. I have to 5-4-5 this one. Sorry. If they had a "how cleve"r voting dial it would be maxed out.

Thanks, all.
Guy -- I apppreciate your comments, and I wholeheartedly agree that I often wish there were a more appropriate button than "Funny" with which to laud or deplore parodies that (like this one) don't necessarily strive solely or even primarily for humor. OTOH, I can't agree that hindsight's proverbial clarity is needed to determine whether our economy is today a shambles, military involvements limboed, that W's support among once-staunch backers has and continues to wane, or that no hint of a beneficial reversal kooms in re any those situations; taken together that seems to me a picture of a presidency in demise. For me, personally, tho' understandable less likely so for W's faithful, "louse" and "rats," besides respectively suppying an apt rhyme" and metaphor, lend humor. Of course I'd prefer to get all 5s all the time; OTOH, I value even more a ballot box, like amiright's, of non-Floridian openness and honestty. Thanks for yours. :-)

McK -- Interesting re "Jeb!" I wouldn't have known that. In any case, while he may have been no worse than W, I'm not wholly convinced he'd have been appreciably better. I _am_ wholly convinced I hope we never have to find out. :-)
