Parody Song Title:

"Amish"

Parody Written by:

Alvin Rhodes

The Lyrics

amish are a herd, who's hard to describe
faith in god is what they have
hiding from the world outside
they don't keep up with the times
they're weird, as i have told you
they don't keep up with the times
you whistle and they scold you
they don't keep up with the times
they wish that they could mold you
into someone who was amish
be in touch with thy amish crew

oh, they're refusing to blink
they think their plan is sound
the lord wants them plain as can be
just have a vast amount of patience
bliss will be found
when the end is near
you will see
that they'll be living in heaven, divine

if hungry, they will feed you
but they will sermonize
and they haunt you
because they're scary looking guys
they scream "god loves you"
and then they all theorize
that all they want is just a simple place
their land
to them is paradise

amish is a herd with morals applied
with deep faith in their hearts
god's will be realized
and they are not gonna be the ones with lustful dreams
and they are not gonna be the ones in satan's schemes
and they are not gonna be the ones
to swear and lead a sinful life
they're all good amish
be in touch with thy amish crew

amish are a herd, who's hard to describe
faith in god is what they have
hiding from the world outside
they don't keep up with the times
they're weird, as i have told you
they don't keep up with the times
you whistle and they scold you
they don't keep up with the times
they wish that they could mold you
into someone who was amish
be in touch with thy amish crew

no ado...amish crew
no ado...amish crew

As the 70's were the decade of my formative years, I am a sucker for the sappy songs of that era so I LOVE the original song. Couple that with the fact that my college years were spent in Lancaster County, PA -- the heart of Amish America -- I think I can say with AUTHORITY that this is a brilliant parody! Really, really well done.

Cherish is the word I use to describe
your parody of Amish and the, the things that they abide
You don't know how many times I laughed out loud while reading
you don't know how many times your great lines I was heeding
you don't know how many times I laughed so hard I thought that I would die
and I will cherish this as much as I cherish you
and I do
cherish you

Well, if my Amish great great grandfather, Samuel J. Miller, hadn't gone and married that Lutheran woman, I wouldn't be on the PC now, commenting on this worldy stuff... ;-)

At first I thought something was "amiss" here but it turned out to be 'Amish'. Alvin, I'm glad you didn't develope a lisp in your writing. Not that there would be anything wrong with that, except it's a lot harder to read...5's...

If they were as cute as that Amish guy in "Witness" I would be one of them.
