I don't have as many parodies for basketball as for the other major sports. But after hearing "The Wreck of the John B" by Pete Seeger and the Weavers, the forerunner to the Beach Boys' version on the album "Pet Sounds," this came to mind.
We watched for the Hoops Doc J.
Who came from the ABA.
Around Nassau County he did roam.
Won Nets two crowns.
But had to skip town.
Well, the team was broke up.

I grew up in PA watching the 70s and 80s Sixers with Dr J, Moses Malone, Darryl Dawkins, Mo Cheeks. Ya have to pronounce Julius as "jewl-yus" for pacing, but that's fine. 555

I remember when traveling, palming, and the other offenses that are now rife used to be called by the refs. Go Celtics!

I come upon a slip by John B. Sure, Dr. J traveled sometimes, but your Celtics have always been noted first and foremost for thuggery. Or have you forgotten Johnny Most's line, "Chamberlain stuck his eye in Russell's elbow!"
