No, not the current Prince of Wales and heir to the throne, but his 12-times great uncle, King Charles I, ruled 1625 to 1649. His demands on Parliament, and his tinkering with religion, brought about the English Civil War. He was a pain in the neck. And then he got one.

Hey, Michael - I notice you've been hit with the 1s too: I wonder if it has anything to with arguing with certain blinkered, blind and narrow-minded right-wing ideologues?
Very good job of condensing 24 years into 4 verses and a few hisses. I would have liked to seen a references to the cavaliers and roundheads, but you were limited by the length of the OS and maybe you are saving it for your Cromwell parody. It is interesting that Charles was convicted of treason by just one vote (68 to 67).
Chuck I did not deserve to be murdered. Even if he made mistakes, Cromwell was far worse. A big part of this fiasco (death of Chuck I) was just another in a long string of acts of anti-Catholic bigotry that have taken place in England from the 1530s to the present. I say "to the present," because the coming Chuck III is banned from marrying a Catholic, but could marry an atheist.
Uh-oh, one of the seven signs of the Amiright Apocalypse has just occurred: I have agreed with Lurker. Cromwell was worse. While Charles, "That Man of Blood," was just a self-important windbag, Cromwell and the other Parliamentary leaders were true butchers. Thank God for separation of church and state. And the would-be (by no means yet assured) Charles III apparently was not banned from marrying a hag. And what happens if Camilla converts to Catholicism now? (Would The Church take her at this point? Probably not, they don't need any more rotten publicity, and Ben the Sixteen might be shocked into the St. Peter's tombs. Which I don't want to happen. Give him a chance to do the right things first, he might end up deserving a long tenure. Might.)
Lurker - you talk about "anti-Catholic bigotry": I suggest you read a history book or two (or ideally a dozen or so, to get a balanced viewpoint)
