The Lyrics

No, it hasn't been that bad with me so far. But tens of thousands of my countrymen have faced the brutal side of Capitalism, and hundreds have taken their own lives as they have found themselves in a completely hopeless situation.
I once had a job, which used to pay well - those days were good
Then began lay-offs, that's how it went - Outsourcing blues
They said, gal, in China, they will do your work for just dime
it's globalization, too bad if it's sacking time

I had empty gaze, I was so hurt, it couldn't be me
My boss, he said me, he's sacked too, it's gonna be
He told me these times are so tough if you're just salaryman
It's capitalism, so they say, so try understand -

And when I was home, just all alone, I tied a noose
I know when I'm lost -that is the cost - outsourcing blues

The good news is, two weeks ago I got a new job. The bad news is, it was in New Orleans. Five unemployment checks. You do have those in your enlightened land, don't you? After all, any time an American right-winger wants to say "Socialsm has failed everywhere it's been tried," they take some potshots at Scandinavia. At least the North American hockey market is open again.

Poignantly expressed, Susanna. But the "brutal side of Capitalism" still creates a lot more opportunities and a higher standard of living than the compassionate side of socialism.
