True story: The first time I ever visited the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, there was a poster advertising a rugby match to be held the next day at Doubleday Field, the place when Abner Doubleday invented baseball. (At least, that's the Hall of Fame's story, and they're sticking to it.) I thought it was weird to play a football-type game on "the first baseball field." Apparently, somebody else thought it was weird, because the next day it poured, and the game was cancelled. I guess God is a baseball fan. But just a couple of months ago, there was an antiwar march in Washington, and when it ended, there was a rugby match played on the National Mall near the Washington Monument, apparently a regularly-scheduled game. I watched for about five minutes, then realized I had no idea how the game is played and couldn't tell who was playing well and who wasn't, and I left. But at least I didn't volunteer to play rugby to impress a British chick, like Ross on "Friends." We all know how THAT turned out. Oh, by the way, a very good -- make that a bloody good parody.
