The Lyrics

For those unaware, I have a few sections that I edit for AmIRight. A parody about some of material I receive.
I read my page today, oh joy
Seems all I got was spam or things irate
'You blow', 'F*** you' and 'up your a**'
These comments have no class...
You'll see they get more crass...

I see misrhymes of 'far' and 'car'
And those submissions they get file-thirteened
Requests for lyrics, they were there
But I can't help of course
Well that is what Google's for,
Can't find them check the message boards!

I saw some leet today, oh boy
Seems proper spelling is a daunting chore
Some little kiddies think I'm gay
Submissions incomplete
I just hit de-lete...
To the next I... move... on...

{interlude}

What now? Well this I read:
'Get a life and you're inbred
By the way jerk-*** this site does suck'
Oh what a schmuck,
I'm thinking this is great

Clicked the next and almost gag
A whole song without break tags!
Reasons like 'because' is this a joke?
(man) Some stupid folk,
This is what I see on screen

{interlude of bewilderment with "ahs"}

I've read, reviewed my page, oh boy
So now you know of my job, volunteer
And no one knows what I'll get next
Perhaps some foreign text
But one thing I know is most will probably wind up rejects...
I wish they'd prove... me... wrong...

{big outro}

Looks like a big headache to manage these places. Good parody, but I DKTOS. : )

As a former forum moderator, I can relate to the abusive emails! Nicely put, and a good match with the OS!

Afraid I DKTOS, but this was funny, and I certainly feel for ya. There's just people like that all over the place, sadly. But anyway, all 5's.
Robert J. Pagliaro - January 13, 2006 - Report this comment
I liked this.
Cat - January 13, 2006 - Report this comment
Hah, this is great! But one thing...I cannot fathom how anyone could not KTOS in this case. It's a freakin' classic...oh well. This really isn't the place for complaints.

at least you're not handling "whatfreaks"...lol...gotta slip into one of those yellow rubber suits and wear special gloves to handle that stuff...lol...I've pieced together a few fives from some "deleted" parody submissions...

Very, very good, Mr Ant...or should I start calling you Jack now? :-) I wouldn't want an editor's job for love nor money...but I love your frustrated parody. And I'm with Cat...Adagio, you need to sign up for Beatles 101 quick smart! 555

Hmm....Kristof....I believe those same classes are available for the Moody Blues. ; )

Thanks Paul, John and Kristof. Paul, a long time ago I wrote one that was rejected for content, maybe one day you'll see it over there. You'll need the gloves. Kristof, I always thought you called me Antman (which is cool, kind of has a superhero sound to it) but Jack is fine. The job is pretty cool actually, even the occasional hate mail makes me laugh.

I never knew how tough it was to be an editor.

I did comment, Jack, even thought I didn't know it.

Thanks Kat and Pat (I thanked you earlier, your second comment was addressing Kristof, not me)

My favorite Beatles song (I still want to parody this one, but can't come up with a good idea for it, and I don't want to just blow it off, because this is the kinda Beatles song that can really win a SOTM, because it's pretty epic- at least by Beatles standards). This was a nice look at the Backstage/ Behind the scenes life of Amiright.

Jack - I see you've even edited yourself with all those asterisks in the parody. Nice touch.

I would've voted 777 if there is one.

(Artistry) Clearly a job as epic as managing AmiRight requires an epic OS to go with it (BAD would need the longest song in the world, then)! 555 for you, my good sir.
Agrimorfee - September 16, 2008 - Report this comment
(Artistry) It's good that you made this parody almost non-Amiright-centric. I don't know what a leet is, but that doesn't detract from how good this was overall.

(Artistry) A good editor is worth his weight in red pencils. Or in this case, Red Ant pencils.

(Artistry) As a fellow editor and a website owner/editor I can relate to this one so well. Agri, Leet or L337 means the same as "Elite" it's a common word used among hackers and even some spammers. . .that's my experience with it anyhow.

Red Ant deserves 5 Red Stripe beers for this! (Sorry...it's the only red I could think of with alcohol...)
Jeff Reuben - September 18, 2008 - Report this comment
Red Wolf, Red Dog would be a couple other cheaper alternatives to RedStripe :) I can relate as well as an editor. Excellent stuff!

Jeff and Syncronos, I think any of them would be fine with Ant :)

(Artistry) No wonder Red Ant is red. Having to read idiots' e-mail all day would keep me fairly agitated. Good work RA, on both this Parody and the Site.

Ahhh...an editors lament. Here's a shamelessly copy/paste(d) definintion of Leet
Leet or Eleet (sometimes rendered l33t, 1337, or 31337), also known as Leetspeak or Leetzorz (1337Z0l2Z), is an alphabet used primarily on the Internet, which uses various combinations of ASCII characters to replace Latinate letters. The term is derived from the word "elite", and the usage it describes is a specialized form of symbolic writing. Different dialects of leet are found on different online fora. Initially, the word leet was used as an adjective, to primarily describe the behavior or accomplishments of others in the community. In that usage Leet generally carries the same meaning when referring to either the game prowess or, in original usage, hacking expertise of another person. From adjective form its use then expanded to include use as an expletive or interjection in reaction to a demonstration of the former qualities. With the mass proliferation of Internet use in the 1990s into the 21st century, Leet has since become a part of Internet culture and slang.[1] Leet may also be considered a substitution cipher, albeit with much variation from user to user. Example sentence: L337 15 n07 4 c0mm0n 1n73rn37 5p33k 4m0n9 r34l h4ck3r5 English rendering: Leet is not a common internet speak among real hackers.
Thanks for all you do for this site...
