Original Song Title:

"'Till There Was You"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"When Cheney Shoots"

Parody Written by:

MasonR

The Lyrics

Up on Capitol Hill
They all shake their heads in wonder
And some even pine for Quayle
When Cheney shoots

All the birds in the sky
Can feel safe when Cheney's aiming
But the lawyers, they better duck
When Cheney shoots

But if he should hit one, a lawyer in the face
He'll apologize
for getting in
the way
of Dick

Now he's far underground
Cheney's hiding from the zinging
He hopes next time Bush makes his day
When Cheney shoots

But if he should hit one, a lawyer in the face
He'll apologize
for getting in
the way
of Dick

Now he's far underground
He is hiding from the zinging
He hopes next time Bush makes his day
When Cheney shoots

When Cheney shoots

Not bad, Mason, I'll read the rest. Did you know Til There Was You was actually from the Broadway show The Music Man?

Thanks Agrimorfee! Yes I knew that, but I'm more familiar with the Beatles version. And remember, Paul once introduced it as having been sung by "our favorite American group, Sophie Tucker."

As John Lennon himself might have put it, those of us in the cheap seats are clapping our hands. Everyone else, well, they're too much in Cheney and Bush's pockets to be rattling their f---in' jewelry.
