Funny thing, Canada actually calling its liberal party the Liberal Party (a.k.a. the "Grits," meaning "all sand and no dirt; clear grit all the way through," a reference to the type of sand preferred in the preparation of masonry), and its conservatives the Conservative Party (a.k.a. the "Tories," from a Gaelic word meaning a criminal's pursuit, thus doubly ironic considering the British Tories). Alexander Mackenzie was the first Liberal Party Leader to become Prime Minister of Canada, but he's not exactly held up in the party's pantheon like Wilfrid Laurier, Mackenzie King and Pierre Trudeau.

I don't know why all those Australian political ads are on the right, here - or are they local ads for this part of the world, sourced by "Liberal Party"? - btw good read, MP, but do not know who the hell you're talking about!
