Parody Song Title:

"Seems My Guitar Needs New Strings"

Parody Written by:

Susanna Viljanen

The Lyrics

I switch on the amp, strike a chord - oops, the E string's broken
Seems my guitar needs new strings
Oh, did I play too hard - or imitate Pete Townshend?
Seems my guitar needs new strings
I don't know why they won't last longer,
did I now play too rough?
I don't know why - they can't be made stronger
- they ain't tough enough

I press at the fret, play a note - oops, the B string's gone - d'oh! -
Seems my guitar needs new strings
It seems that the miles of these wires are quite full now -
seems my guitar needs new strings
I don't know why they won't last five years
what does them so consume?
I don't know why wire so swiftly wears
why I must buy new soon?

I twist on the knob, tune the string - oops, the G string's in two -
Seems my guitar needs new strings
I must get new strings, I don't dare to try get D tuned -
Seems my guitar needs new strings

I had a little trouble with the pacing and syntax, Susanna, although that could be my memory of the OS, but it was clever and fun. 4-5-5 ~ ~ ~

Loved the Pete Townsend line.

Reminds me too of a scary story: a friend's 80 year old grandpa comes up to his visiting musician nephew and aks him for help putting on his G-string. Nephew is really worried with the mental images this is conjuring - until grandpa brings out his violin....
