Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Bridge and making love are quite similar. You need either a good partner or a good hand.
Picture cards make up good portion on my hand
Couple of aces with diamond suit five
Count down my points with the system of ACOL
This girl has grand slam on her mind!

Selling the contract for picking just tricks
Is not an ideal game -
Look at the cards with the lozenge-ed eyes,
And the spades -

Should I bid NT or diamonds?
Should I bid NT or diamonds?
Should I bid NT or diamonds?

Follows the first round of bridge by the bidding
Where you make the contract or either deny;
Everyone smiles as you drift up with auction,
The stakes are incredibly high.

New round for bidding appear, it's my turn
Making my offer for game -
Climbs the game high with the score in the clouds
And I'm lame -

Should I bid NT or diamonds?
Should I bid NT or diamonds?
Should I bid NT or diamonds?

Picture cards in the spades, hearts and the diamonds
Suit of the diamond is five long and high:
Seven I'll bid but is it trump or without ?
The girl with grand slam on her mind!

Should I bid NT or diamonds?
Should I bid NT or diamonds?
Should I bid NT or diamonds?

Should I bid NT or diamonds?
Should I bid NT or diamonds?
Should I bid NT or diamonds?

Bid NT, girl, bid NT!

This must be the first bridge parody ever written. Funny that the card games do not inspire more parodies.

It's not my game. If I played it, it would be a bridge too far. But I'll see your five and raise you five.

This is fun I never played bridge but learned to play canasta.

Sorry to disappoint, Susanna - here's one about bridge: www.amiright.com/parody/80s/defleppard24.shtml (it's my favourite card game, too :-) )

PS All things being equal, bid no trumps: you'll get 80 more points if you manage a slam ;-)

As a former duplicate player, you're Goren' my ox here... grabbed me with the title, and voted on the preface alone RFLMAO (is that where the "rubber" applies?)... Probable reason there aren't more parodies on this is that the game is dying out, at least here in the US of A: Requires too long of an attention span, lacks sex and violence, and there's no music or video. 555, but bid Diamonds unless your partner has the Clubs covered, and remember that the lead will be coming through her.

Whether it's NT or diamonds, this is a grand slam, bid and made! Well done, Susanna.
