"Golden Slumber/Carry That Weight/The End"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"Hammock Song"

Parody Written by:

Max Power

The Lyrics

Here it is.
Now there is a way to take a nap back there
Now there is a way to nap back there
Time for me to take a good nap
Make sure you don't play gangsta rap

Golden hammock rests my back
Don't wake me up 'till I rise
Time for me to take a good nap
Make sure you don't play gangsta rap

Now there is a way to take a nap back there
Now there is a way to nap back there
Time for me to take a good nap
Make sure you don't play gangsta rap

*Music changes*

Man, I'm gonna crawl myself back home,
Crawl myself back home right now
Man, I'm gonna crawl myself back home,
Crawl myself back home right now

You never gave me my refund
You never told me the hammock's a wreck
And in the middle of my afternoon nap
The rope snaps

Man, I'm gonna crawl myself back home,
Crawl myself back home right now
Man, I'm gonna crawl myself back home,
Crawl myself back home right now

*Music changes*

Oh yeah, all right
Are you going to be in my dreams
Tonight?

*Drum Solo*

Sue ya
Sue ya
Sue ya
Sue ya
Sue ya
Sue ya
Sue ya
Sue ya
Sue ya
Sue ya

*Instrumental*

And in the end
I'll win the case
Be ready to fork up the dough
Whole story is here.

Another hit-n-run 1 voter.

Where are you hit-and-run 1 voters?
Below Average Dave - May 26, 2007 - Report this comment
I think that the hit and run 1 voters vote on the person, not the parody, I wouldn't let them bug you--not worth the time . . .I mean, honestly. . .I guess it kinda lets me know I'm being read by someone. . .so in that respect, congratulations

BTW, I guess you can tell, but I figured I'd even that out a little bit for ya

(SOTM) Wow... the pacing was perfect, the concept was cool, you even parodied the drum solo! This is a SOTM-worthy parody right here! Let's see what happens. 555
Agrimorfee - June 12, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) shoulda rhymed the lines where Paul did. I didn't think it paced as good as Chris does.
McKludge - June 14, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) I thought the pacing was a little off, too, in the beginning, but I'm not completely familiar with the OS. I had to go by a live version done by Paul.

SOTM = Sleepingsong Of The Month?
stuart mcarthur - June 26, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) not a bad idea, and I liked the refund gag Max, but a little too repetitious for SOTM, and some of the lines seemed convenient rather than crafted
bobpiecheese - June 27, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Erm...what? I got lost on the subject matter. But I'm me, I always get lost.
Matthias - June 27, 2007 - Report this comment
I agree with Stuart... It was a good parody, but not SOTM material
wannabemustangjockey - June 29, 2007 - Report this comment
SOTM - The pacing needs work. I can tell what's going on pretty easily, but a lot of it doesn't match the OS very well.
The Charnstar - June 29, 2007 - Report this comment
Yeah, I agree with Stu and Matthias.

(SOTM) Oh yay. . .this one I really did comment on already so I could say 'see above'. . .but instead I'll just reiterate that I think this is a sign of continued improving by you Max. . .I think this is a good sign of what's to come from you.
Jason - June 30, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) A reasonable job. Better than your early Beatles parodies.
Kristof Robertson - June 30, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Not bad at all, Max...but I tend to agree with what has already been said; namely, that more variation in your lines, and a few more LOL jokes would have lifted this to SOTM material. 444
Jack Wilson - June 30, 2007 - Report this comment
That was pretty good!
Chris Frederick - July 01, 2007 - Report this comment
SOTM - Not bad, but just didn't do it for me. A relatively short OS and a good bit of remaining repetition in the parody aren't an ideal combination. Still a nice effort though.
Matthias - September 07, 2008 - Report this comment
This is a pretty good collection of Beatles songs, and I liked that you did a lot with such a small topic, but I agree with what I said earlier, not SOTM material, but Artistry material... perhaps.

Artistry-34

Strange - now all of a sudden I feel like taking a nap. And what Matt daid - you did a lot with a small topic.
Dr Music - September 14, 2008 - Report this comment
Great song. 555. Hmm....that's weird, since I've been watching all those John Candy movies of mine i've been feeling a lot like John Candy himself. It's almost like i'm turning into him or something. Now wouldn't that be a kick in the head? (Laughs, but his laugh is that of John Candy) Did I sound like John Candy just then? Weird....It's like i'm transforming into him. Wait a minute...I AM turning into him. Cool. This song was awesome btw.
bobpiecheese - September 16, 2008 - Report this comment
(Artistry) Still kinda confused as to the point of this one. Kinda ran itself into the ground due to the topic. The fact that I DKTOS (all three of them) doesn't help either.
Agrimorfee - September 16, 2008 - Report this comment
(Artistry) Won't leave you hanging, see the comments above.
Red Ant - September 17, 2008 - Report this comment
Guess I wasn't in May 2007 SOTM... good idea and storyline, Max. This could have been fleshed out a bit more though. I couldn't get much of this to scan.
Rex - September 17, 2008 - Report this comment
(Artistry) Nice story, glad you won the lawsuit. A little less repetition would have made the parody much better, though.
Dr Music - September 17, 2008 - Report this comment
If I wasn't busy turning into John Candy right now I would have told you that I too have a hammock in my yard. Song was great, loved it. 555 zzz's!
Below Average Dave - September 18, 2008 - Report this comment
(Artistry) This time, I can say See Above without adding more to it. . .as my name has already appeared here a lot.
Syncronos - September 18, 2008 - Report this comment
I agree with Rex, but I still love this! Now I ain't going NEAR my hammock...
Jeff Reuben - September 18, 2008 - Report this comment
Ouch, sounds like a painful summer rest! I liked it, agreed with the repetition comments
Wolverine - September 18, 2008 - Report this comment
(Artistry) Not a hammock person myself, I'll stick with a good matress that's not swinging from a tree. Not bad Max.
Invisible Boy - September 18, 2008 - Report this comment
But how do you feel about "gangsta rap" ?
Again...I'm in search of minimalism...like,I suspect. you are...
