The Lyrics

The NBA died years ago and this is one of the reasons.
Close your eyes, stop your dribble
Plays made with a scribble
Remember the curve is lower now.
Sit right down, can we talk?
Cause now you can walk,
The Ref lost his whistle and how.

Used to be two or three steps
But now we’re all inept
We bend all the rules for our sport.
King James takes four or five
Then does that hand jive
Teammates sure look bored on the court.

No more traveling in the NBA.
Rules unraveling, anyone can play.

Shoot 3-pointers or slam dunk
I once was a poor punk
I’m making today’s Top 10 Plays.
Shooting 30 percent now
Avoid all the hard fouls
Off-season I’ll still get my raise.

No more traveling in the NBA.
Refs unraveling, anyone can play.
No more traveling in the NBA.

Agree wholeheartedly - everybody does the crossover dribble, which used to be called palming - before they take the many steps.

Really well done, Jim. Hits the nail right on the head how this game degenerated.

Right on! It also used to illegal to palm and carry the ball.

Thanks All, I do appreciate your agreement on this once great league, it's not the same game I grew up with, they brought in the 3-point line...what's next, lowering the basket? a fourth ref? mandatory corn-rows?

I'm so stupid, I was expecting a "no vacations due to the economy", or "no vacations because of swine flu". This too was a fine "spin" (lol). Palm these Fives.

p.s.: This would be a perfect occasion for the apostrophe of ellipsis, "No more trav'ling", to emphasize the match with "No more loving" (4 syl each) ... ok, won't mention it again.
Re: "mandatory corn rows", OK, if it's OK to go Politically Incorrect, what does "NBA" stand for? ..... A: "Nothing but Africans". kiiiiiiiiiiiding!

Thanks TT, you are absolutely correct! I did in fact type trav'ling in the first draft, but have an allergy to the squiggly red misspell line. If I could go back in time, I would do it.....such the old dog I am!

Jim, turtles live to be 150, so I'm probably an older turtle than you are dog :) Many's the time I've wished for an "edit" button! And I'm with ya on the squiggly red -- it just flagged "many's" (oops, did it again... go figure), even though it's a perfectly fine contraction of "many is". Gotta know when to hold em', know when to fold (delete or correct) 'em lol!
