Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"Oh Lu-cee, In The Sky"

Parody Written by:

Alvin Rhodes

The Lyrics

on a boat you're floating at the river's pace
tangerines and marmalade on hand
answering quite slowly as a call is placed
kaleidoscopic are the eyes that she commands

oh lu-CEE...in the SKY...with her dia-MONDS
la-la lucy...shining on
oh lu-CEE...in the SKY...with her dia-MONDS
la-la lucy...shining on

colored plastic flowers all around the shore
way above your head they're towering...ZING
sun is in the eyes of that young girl once more
and then she's gone and you cannot see anything

oh lu-CEE...in the SKY...with her dia-MONDS
la-la lucy...shining on
oh lu-CEE...in the SKY...with her dia-MONDS
la-la lucy...shining on

by a fountain, a bridge...where you follow...as she roams
see the rocking horse folks...eating pies of foam
they're made up of marshmallows...HO HO HO HO

everybody smiling as you drift in place
flowers standing taller than you stand
taxis made of paper are all set to race
your head is still up in the clouds, you understand

oh lu-CEE...in the SKY...with her dia-MONDS
la-la lucy...shining on
oh lu-CEE...in the SKY...with her dia-MONDS
la-la lucy...shining on

can you picture yourself...in a station...trains are prone
withe some plasticine gents...with some ties, bizarre
a looking glass view is thrown...HO HO HO HO

suddenly, she's standing at the turnstile place
eyes are still a-swirling oh so grand
here's a lovely girl with a fantastic face
a set of psychedelic eyes to beat the band

oh lu-CEE...in the SKY...with her dia-MONDS
la-la lucy...shining on
oh lu-CEE...in the SKY...with her dia-MONDS
la-la lucy...shining on

and in here eyes, the sun
kaleidoscopic ones

Beautifully compounded lyric parody of The Beatles, as always! I'll probably write compounded parodies someday! Lucy is one of my fave Beatles songs. Here's 555 diamonds in the sky!!

Didn't even notice this one at first. should be 10-10-10, but have to settle for 555 for this wonderous "double switch". Fantastic idea!!!

Very clever - use a Beatle song to rewrite a second one. You might be the sixth Beatle.

There is no 'splainin'" to do on this one - Neither OS made a lot of sense as a lot of the Beatles works often did not. You captured that trait quite well with this wonderful combo of two great Beatles' works. And who doesn't "Love Lucy"? Whatever substance inspired this write, I want some.

I haven't written much lately but I've been active in the ABC comps on the messageboards. I have a couple of new writes to run this week but I feel that they are not up to snuff. I've been in a slump lately but I did manage a tie for second place in the last ABC comp. Take care old friend.

to Joe: Thank you for remembering my birthday...and you got it on the exact day! Yep, I'm 34 now, but to me it's just another year.
to Alvin: yeah, I've mainly been so busy that I haven't had much time to be here as much as I used to, but I still come around. I still loved this parody. :)
